Due North

Wonderful Peter Riley at the peak of his powers
and a the rhythm and musicality reach a very high level. If Peter dropped the politically correct line ( classic Cambridge School of poetry) he could produce a total masterpiece. This is the first British poetry book in decades that brought Dante to mind and I cannot praise it highly enough!

Raw North
Weird but so like my home town of Stockport. The big bridge, the Derbyshire hills - all took me back to childhood & youth. I like his broken style of poetry, his short lines (always with a reason, the gaps in writing, the density of meaning, and above all a concentrated view of living in the North. Thank you, Peter Riley
