Q: My Flowtron originally came with a bulb labeled BF35-8131, is this the correct bulb replacement?

I might of had the same issue of not knowing when I bought it. So what I did was I checked the number of BF-35 and then I looked at the prongs and checked if it was the same as the original. It fit perfect and worked well. Not a very scientific way to check but hope it helps.

Q: does the bulb need to be replaced on an interval, or only when it burns out?

My zapper and bulb worked until it would not light up. I just replaced the bulb which has lasted for over 3 years. The previous one lasted over 4-5 years. I only use it during the late spring to early fall.

Q: The product information box says this is an led. is that true or is it really cfl with a mistaken entry on the page?

its not a true led it's replacement bulb for the bug zapper
