After one use my hair went from yellow to a more normal blonde color: a detailed review (also a tldr)
When I got my hair done, to keep the costs down I did not have my stylist tone my hair, resulting in a large amount of bright yellow along my roots and then bright white fading into the rest of my blonde hair. To me it looked like the Buttered Popcorn flavored Jelly Belly before. I used the Dumb Blonde toning shampoo by Bed Head in one use after 10 minutes and it did practically nothing for my popcorn hair. I watched youtube reviews and decided to buy and try this out. Lengthy review below or skip to the Overall/tldr at the end :)-First, the shampoo color is REALLY dark purple and will lightly stain under your fingernails (I am considering using gloves and a bowl/brush next time), it also has a light clove scent. After leaving it on for 5 minutes, I washed it out and then used the conditioner.-Second, the conditioner feels thinner than most out there, but it made it easy to disperse into the hair. The scent reminded me of Botan Rice Candy with sugary milk tones to it. This conditioner is amazing. After leaving it in a few minutes (per instructions) my hair felt salon soft and I barely needed any Argan oil (my own hair routine) to correct moisture/oil loss after toning.-Third, I did notice that, with a wet head, there was still yellow at the root and the white parts had turned a slight purple tone. This did frustrate me, but I read that washing your hair with a normal shampoo will correct this slightly-something i did not do in this instance. You can also dilute this with regular shampoo to ensure that you do not have heavy color deposits on the lightest parts of your hair.-Last, when I blow dried and straightened my hair, I did notice that there was still a little yellow, but this was also my first use. The rest of my hair had turned a light ashy blonde which i love. Now instead of Buttered Popcorn Jelly Belly hair, it looks more normal and after one 5 minute application. I would increase the time applied and maybe dilute it to still lift the yellow tones and limit the purple deposits.Overall thoughts/tldr: After just one use my hair went from buttered popcorn yellow to a more normal color blonde. The shampoo is highly pigmented and you will get a lot of bang for your buck. The conditioner is unmatched imo, and i will be using that a lot more frequently than the shampoo because it made my hair silky soft with no frizz. I would change the way i apply this product by using a bowl and brush to concentrate it at the roots or dilute the color with my normal shampoo in order to limit the purple deposits. 5/5 because I know that I am not wasting my time and money with this product.

Wonderful products!
I am naturally a fairly dark brunette & I like frequent change, so recently I went blonde again (bleach & tone myself). The last time I was blonde (a few years ago) I had used Clairol's Shimmering Lights shampoo & conditioner, however, I made the decision to go 100% cruelty free with all my purchases since then. After quite a bit of research I chose these Fanola products...I am so glad I did! The purple shampoo is wonderful, as it does exactly what it should: counteracts the brassy hues. Of course, how you choose to use it makes a big difference in the outcome. I typically just use it every third shampoo & leave it on roughly 5 minutes, then rinse & follow with the intensely moisturizing conditioner. I place a shower cap on over the conditioner & rinse out with cool water about 10 minutes later. The conditioner smells absolutely delicious (though I wouldn't recommend tasting it)! It smells exactly like vanilla coconut pudding, to me. If I wanted to use the shampoo as a toner, I would apply it, cover with a cap & leave it on for as long as necessary (checking frequently, to avoid the purple pigment grabbing too much!). Of course the purple shampoo is a bit drying, but any shampoo that deposits pigment is going to be, which is why having a great moisturizing conditioner for using directly afterward (like this one) is so crucial. Having done so much research on similar, salon quality products, I can assure you the price for the larger (liter) size product is absolutely amazing! The only downside I can find? They do not supply pump tops for them. I did find that Fanola sells such pump tops via their US distributor, but not on Amazon. That is irritating; however, I purchased a 2-pack of BarS 1-liter pump tops for a few dollars (here on Amazon) & though they aren't a perfect fit, they work well enough. (I just ran a little clear silicone sealant around the base of the lid, to seal it to the bottle.) Regardless, I am thrilled with the purchase!

My hair looks awesome again!
Omg. My hair is so pretty again! We have hard water and it totally ruined my blonde. I used the hard water remover and it worked to an extent. I hadn’t bleached my hair in months at this point. My hair is so damaged I was worried about dying it again. My hair was YELLOW, brassy. Gross! I also have roots (my natural is ashy) so it was an ugly mess.So I went searching on amazon and found this. The first time I used it, I left it on for 5 minutes. It worked but I missed a few spots. So the next day, I did it again for 4 minutes. My hair turned ashy close to my natural hair color!! Holy crap. I didn’t have roots anymore! BUT my hair turned green. Next day, it came out and my hair was a gorgeous ashy blonde. The smell is a typical purple shampoo. I’ve tries a few. This one is legit. The conditioner smells sooo good. The shampoo does dry out your hair but they all do bc It’s toning your hair. The conditioner is a must and it works great! Made my hair super soft.Tips: Wet your hair and then pat your hair with a towel so it’s not soaking (do NOT rub!). Then take the shampoo and put it on without making suds until it’s all over your head. Make sure to get all strands. Combing it helps. Try to work fast. Use a stop watch or timer. If you just bleached your hair, go easy the first time - leave it in for 3 minutes. I haven’t bleached mine in so long my hair wasn’t as porous so I kept it on for 5 minutes and was fine. And your hands will be purple. Use gloves or just wash your hands really good.I love this and will definitely be telling my friends about it!
