'Memory Filled Feast For 80's Fans'
This is quite simply a wonderful DVD set. Not only has the spirit of channel 4's then cutting edge music show been captured perfectly, the very essence of the 1980's has as well. If like me you were a teenager around the early 80's and remember going to nightclubs, watching this is like stepping into a time machine and whisking yourself back to your youth. How great it is to see all the bright coloured clothes, crazy haircuts, white ankle socks and lashings of make up again! As well as lots of exceptional music, there are many interesting and lighthearted interviews with the stars from the era as well. Paula Yates's interview with Sting is particularly amusing and poor Paula simply sizzles with sexiness! While a few of the musical performances on here are mimed, a lot are genuine live versions and this alone makes this collection an essential purchase for collectors. Fans of Alison Moyet in particular will love this DVD as it includes her singing a dynamite duet with Eric Burden of the Animals classic 'House Of The Rising Sun' accompanied by Jools Holland, a performance of 'Don't Go' by Yazoo and a performance of one of her solo tracks 'God Bless The Child'. Also featured on this great collection are 'Depeche Mode','Visage' (and an interview with Steve Strange), 'The Gap Band', 'Shalamar' (cracking live version of 'A Night To Remember' (one of the tracks that so defines the 80's), 'Paul Young' and 'Twisted Sister'. In fact, almost anyone who was anyone in the 80's is on this DVD somewhere and nearly ever style of music is catered for. So go on, fall in love with both the tragic Paula Yates and 'Altered Images' Clare Grogan (who puts in an incredibly sexy performance singing 'Another Lost Look' here) all over again and treat yourself to a trip down memory lane. With a running time of nearly 6 hours, if you have or had any interest whatsover in the music, the personalities and the culture of the 1980's you simply MUST buy this.ENJOY!

The Tube series 1-2
A great bit of nostalgia from the early 80's where the Tube broke ground for the new Channel 4.Along the lines of The Old Grey Whistle Test, the tube mixed pop performance and interviews with new bands and new releases of music before it hit the charts.Ably fronted by Paula Yates and Jools Holland and supported by a cast of interviewers including Muriel Gray, the series did behave like the original Ready Steady Go type of music show, indeed looking back now at some of the performers, you can see just how good many of them were live on stage often without the overdubs and backing musicians, in common with how many of them are on Jools Hollands 'Later' programs.Great to see these old bands as they were in their heyday and interesting to note where they are now and who isn't talking to who nowadays! This would have been better as a bigger DVD set with more live music on it, maybe covering the whole Tube run, but you never know, they just may do that.Brilliant nostalgia anyway.

NOT AS GOOD AS I REMEMBER IT - BUT IT'S STILL WORTH A LOOK!!!!
A great snap shot of my early Friday evenings in the 80's...The interviewing is amateurish and trite.....which I think is what gives it the "charm"...but the music is what it's all about. I don't think any other show has had the variety of styles that THE TUBE gave...So, for those of you who want to re-live those Friday evenings, be aware it's not as good as it seemed all those years ago - but it's still great fun!!!!!....and for those of you who want to see, music played well and from lots of genres, from a time when fashion regularly mixed up its arse with its elbow.............give it a go!

A very enjoyable and interesting documentary series.
If you like underground train documentaries, then this is a great series to buy. I originally watched this show on ITV many years ago and I enjoyed it then, so I was very pleased to see it is available now on DVD.The series goes behind the scenes of the London Underground network and it takes you through all different aspects of how the network is run - from engineering to staff training to revenue collection to technical problems on the network. Yes the series is a bit old now, but it's still a fascinating look at how the underground network is run.

Superb nostalgia!
For anyone that remembers this series from Friday nights in the 80s, this is a real nostalgic treat as not only are there some really great performances on these two discs, it also captures the feel of the show. There are some interesting anecdotes within the extras from the production team and a visit to the studios as they are today. If you enjoyed this show at the time or have a penchant for music of the early to mid-eighties then you will find this very enjoyable.

Read up about what is in the discs before buying
This item wasn't as I expected, too much talking and not enough music played, a bit disappointed!

Not as good as I was expecting but with some classic moments
Not as good as I was expecting but with some classic moments. The guided tour of the Tyne Tees studio was a nice trip down memory lane. I used to really fancy Paula Yates when I watched the series in the 80s (when I was in my 20s) and was most upset when I heard of the sad news about her. She was a lady yet could give as good a she got, no mean feat. I respected her. Looking forward to playing disc two very soon.
