Great peace of mind
I bought this system a few months ago and have been using it daily. It works flawlessly. Some users have reported the app is hard to use, but once you discover that the devices are buried in the Settings menu then it's all ok. The alarm itself was really easy to set up, the motion sensor covers a remarkably large area and can easily detect people coming through the door. Each device aside from the hub is wireless so easy to install and can be stuck to the walls rather than screwed in, with tape provided.

BEWARE: Does not work when the internet is offline!
The alarm does not work if your internet is offline. You can't activate or deactivate the alarm, which makes it useless when your router is updating or you have a poor connection, or on Virgin Media. None of the keypads or keyphobs work, if the internet is disconnected, fun times when trying to deactivate the alarm at night! Also, there is no support from Yale, they don't respond to any tickets and don't get back to you from phone support requests. Please check the app store reviews before purchasing

Cost effective upgrade
I purchased the starter kit to upgrade my existing Yale EF alarm. Very cost effective. Easy to install although the app is not 100% reliable. Some issues with locking out and getting notifications.

Not so smart - except when it works!
When working this alarm was great (about a week). You can completely control your alarm system and devices from a mobile device. It would be much better if Yale also sold a 3G addon device for if your WiFi goes down (thieves cut telephone cable) so it still alerts you. This oversight seems like a glaring flaw in this products appeal. The other major weakness is the device itself. It needs to have constant access to a Yale server - I was woken at 05:00 on my birthday to the device beeping constantly. Evidently after a week of having it, something has gone wrong & it’s not just me affected. I called the support team and loads of people have reported that their smart alarms have stopped working. I was assured it would be up and running that day. So far it’s been offline for three days. Not what you want, especially if you are away at the time. Yale said its the first time its happened....hmmm ok perhaps!Update - 5 days now and the yale support number is off the hook. No response by email either. Think carefully before purchasing this. Im getting close to having to return mine.Update - 6 days... finally got a response in the afternoon yesterday via email. It simply asked who my ISP was. I replied - Utility Warehouse...... and got no response. I called them on the 6th day and they had decided to connect the phones. After 10 mins they answered and told me it was my ISP that was causing the issue. . Called them (UW) and they changed the dns settings in my router which resolved the issue. Ive subsequently added two stars back for yale- they need to sort out their response times for customer issues. 6 days with no alarm is not good.

Can get extremely expensive to expand the system and is incompatible with older door contacts and PIR's
I haven't got this completely set up yet but I've discovered three things so far: 1. The old HSA door contacts and PIRs do not work with this system. It's money grabbing at it's best because I see no reason why they couldn't get them to work. 2. Because of this I now have to replace multiple PIR's and door contacts. A single door contact is ~£18 which is a ridiculous amount of money. 3. The App that you download looks like it was designed by monkeys with similar usability. As an example in most apps if you press the Android back button you go back in the app. Not this. Back takes you out of the app so you have to log in again. Guess how difficult that habit is to break? Yes there is a back button in the app but clearly the designers and developers are new to mobile development. I haven't got round to setting the siren up yet. I'm guessing that's also incompatible. I don't know why I keep buying Yale. This is the third alarm (the first one had control panel issues) I have had and am truly annoyed at the incompatibly issue and the cost of new bits.

A great system with a brilliant wireless range.
This was the perfect upgrade to my current EF telecommunications system, replacing the old control panel and enabling me to use the existing motion sensors, door contacts, keyfobs and smoke detector. While abroad on holiday, three weeks after the upgrade, I received a burglar alarm text message on my phone saying that the garage motion detector has logged an event. I deactivated my alarm then re-enabled it from my phone. A relative then checked the garage and found the activation was caused by a bird somehow getting in. I have now replaced the motion sensor with a pets type. I can recommend this system wholeheartedly.

This kit is easy to fit and just about does some of the sheds (I ordered some extra PIRs, and would say the distance is about 7.5 metres). The PIR is very sensitiveNot part of the kit, but do not buy the Pet-Friendly PIR - they are useless"
