How does this connect to the laptop please?

1. Firstly you need the proper tools - available from Amazon or the iFixit website. 2.Apple uses non standard screws so that cowboys cannot spoil the laptops - a good thing really3. A clean surface clutter free to work on4. small containers to place the removed screws - with the special pentalobe screwdrivers5. Draw a diagram as you work so you know where the long and short screws go back into - makes it easier for re-assembly6. Unscrew the back case, open it, locate the battery terminal first & gently disconnect it first , or else you will ruin the whole laptop through short circuit7. disconnect the ribbon connector on the trackpad, remove the 4 screws carefully, with the special screwdrivers from Amazon / iFixit8. Gently get the ribbon connector out through where it it is inserted in the frame, or you damage the circuit board & render the trackpad useless. It can be tricky but can be done with care & patience9. Refitting is the reverse of what I have just said, hence the importance of drawing and writing down each step - makes it easier !10. I have done many of these for family & friends - as a hobby, saved the mac book owners a packet in labour costs so I know what I am talking about and the new / refurbishedtrackpads from Amazon always work !11. Sometimes it is possible to "regenerate" an old trackpad by careful cleaning using 70% alcohol in a freezer bag which removes all the grease / dirt that accumulates after a few years of use, also useful for coffee spills on the keyboard12. this helps and good luck
