I hope this new one will give the same service as my old one. It is so very light for us older ladies and very easy to use. It has been indispensable for me.Now on my 6-year old one, the cable is starting to fray. (I did wonder if it got tangled up in the forsythia!)So I agree with others who say to preferably use it for light pruning.

This is incredibly lightweight and therefore easier to use. It doesn’t extend as much as I would like, but I guess that’s the trade off for the lightness. I used it today and was pleased with the cutting action. The clippers have a wide jaw when open which is useful too.

Nice and light and easy to use. However, I have had problems with the wires fraying and eventually breaking. I will be trying to get a replacement under the 10. year warranty. I have had it less than a year. Would suggest OK for light pruning.

I use this product all round the garden for small trees and and a large cotoneaster. I think the used image is wrong, as the one I received is actually black and grey (no orange). The company, Barrus Co have been extremely helpful in getting me through a few minor problems with delivery. Thoroughly recommend this.

I purchased this product becasue it had great reviews and was just what i was looking for. At first it seemed that it did exaclt what it said on the tin. Lightweight, easy to use and perfect for my long hadled pruning needs. However well before a year of use the steel cable began to shred and come apart finally snapping. I asked for a replacement because I really like the pole and it's ease of use. Amazon replaced the pole as it was inside the 12 months, the second pole arrived and lasted just over the year this time but sadly again the steel cable was not up to the job in hand. Because it was over a year I had to speak directly to Wilkinson and to be fair they were very helpful and sorry to hear of the problem. They assured me that they had engineered a new pole with stronger thicker cable that would surely be up to the task that it was designed for and last. They sent out the new pole and it arrived within a couple of weeks without any hassle. True to their word the cable did seem to be thicker, but now after just over 18 months I have to write and say we are back to square one, the cable is shredding yet again and the pole will soon be rendered useless. Fo the cost of this pole, i would simply say, sadly look elsewhere, this unit will let you down sooner or later it's not worth the money or the hassle. I just wish that products such as these were made properly and not with cheap inported steel - Do not buy unless you wish to be disapointed and lose your money.

Light & does the required job. I have used longer units in the past, but weight can be a problem. My policy now is to hold a selection of tools, rather than one with the longest-length to cater for all height requirements; this gives weight problems & physical adjustment problems for the lower-height applications. This does increase the overall cost, but does reduce the physical work, & extends the life-span of each tool.
