I questioned whether this jig would really help me to sharpen my hand plane AND it was better than I thought. The honing and micro-bevel feature were surprisingly good for me. I am glad I got this jig and I look forward to using this with my chisels.

So I purchased this thing, hoping I would get the thing i ordered but did not.If you were a little suspicious at the lack of information on the honing guide and pictures of the actual thing they send you it was for good reason, as i found out the hard way.... anyway, needless to say that when the package arrived, the weight of it made me like "why is this so light?" and after opening it i discovered that the honing guide is nothing more than an attachment to the Veritas MK II. there was no roller or anything else to speak of, just an attachment for narrow chisels.In my opinion, save your money, well save your time i should say, and go to lea valley and get the ultimate honing guide set for $50.00 more, you get a roller for adding cambers, two honing guides, one for narrow chisels and one regular that will accept a 2-7/8 blade. this unfortunately isn't the spot to get a good deal on the honing guide.

No joke within less than 1 minute I went from an old improperly cared for chisel to being able to take that same chisel and literally shave the hairs of my arm. Would recommend to anyone seriously considering a honing guide! Thanks for the Veritas MK2 it is amazing. Shipped and arrived quickly as well Thanks Jeff and the Amazon Team

IT MAY BE MORE MONEY BUT ITS THE BEST I HAVE SHARPENED SIX CHISELS ALREADY AND THEY ARE VERY SHARP

Works as advertised but the bevel set has a scale the doesn't line up with the stop pins. Kind of annoying and and very unexpected for the rep this brand had in the woodworking community.

I learnt to hand sharpen at trade school back in the dim dark ages. After a few years off the tools, I was losing my touch, so I figured I’d try a honing guide. I should have bought this years ago. Set up is simple and the blades are secure so long as you take care to tighten the nuts evenly. It’s a little cumbersome if you want to remove the burr between grits but it does an excellent job.

It's great, a little fiddlie but gives a consistent bevel. So why only 1 star, because that cunning rotating roller to give a slightly higher bevel gives a bevel that is not parallel to the main bevel, so the final honing is done by hand. Very disappointed with that.
