While I do not see why you couldn't use this material - it is rated for a very high temperature and likely far greater than the stone heater you are planning to use, you do need to: - Thoroughly understand the temperature of your stone heater - Thoroughly understand the specs of this material - not only as it is delivered, but performance over time (does it degrade?) - Thoroughly understand your local building codes. Despite practical considerations there may be many other requirements depending on your application.

Q: is this product waterproof?

No, it is not waterproof. Like most, if not all, of this type of insulation the fibers are bound together with a water soluble "binder". It will act like paper and become very weak.
