A Very Dense Black Stain, Suitable for Ebonising Hardwood
I bought this product for amateur luthiery (guitar modification and build projects), specifically to ebonise the oak fretboard of a Brian May Red Special guitar prior to applying clear lacquer. I have also used it to good effect when staining light colour wood for other repairs on guitars. Three of the attached pictures illustrate a screw hole repair in the control cavity of a Westfield Les Paul style guitar using a soft wood dowel which I superglued in place, shaped to fit then applied the Liberon black stain to match the black painted wood. The results were highly satisfactory.

Great stuff
I bought a table that was heavily scratched and sanded it back to the bare wood but wanted a more rich colour. I took advice from the Facebook group wood club UK and they recommended spirit dye. I already had the Liberon Danish Oil so I bought the same brand. I’m very pleased with how it turned out. Note. I finished it with Osmo Gloss.

brilliant stuff..
I bought this because I accidently marked a speaker which went down to the MDF base. So I rubbed his dye into it and now it's covered it and did the job perfectly. I've other speakers which I'll use this dye on too.. It's easy to apply.. just get a sponge or rag and dip enough on the rag.. Then rub into the wood.. Easy as that.. If more coats are required just repeat.. The metal tin is large.. It's good value and good quality. Recommended.

Great job on my dining table.
I used it to refurbish a dining table. I sanded the table back to bare wood and first tried to apply the stain with a cloth. This looked quite patchy, so I decided to sand it down again and used a brush to apply it. This produced a really good finish when I had applied three coats. Two coats of clear varnish on top and the table looks like new. Definitely wear gloves when applying it and it does dry fairly quickly, so you need to work swiftly. Very pleased with the product.

THIS DYE IS GREAT STUFF...
This dye is great stuff, and a little goes A VERY LONG WAY. It has a rather thick consistency and one coat is almost always enough. Make sure you ventilate the room though, as it does have a rather pungent aroma.

Old speaker cabinets returned to pristine condition.
Purchased when renovating some old speaker cabinets which were showing white coming through the black.I needed something which would penetrate without me having to sand the old and would still show the underlying grain. This was perfect. First coat covered well but a second coat has just added the final touch. The smell is intense and you definitely need gloves but otherwise went on well with a cloth.I will update this review if the stain fades with time or polishing, but otherwise am very happy.

Would Have been 5 Stars but
Have used Liberon products before but always the water basedthis, being spirit based should really come with a COSHH label/warning on the can and it would be great if the 5 litre can had some sort of pouring spout, similar to what you get with cans of oil.So not faulting the product, just the can it is delivered in, make sure you use this in a well ventilated space and store away from heat.

Does better than it says on the tin
I purchased this to re-ebonise the rosewood finger board of a vintage Gretsch guitar that is worth a few thousand pounds. So I didn't just slap this on and hope for the best. The spirit base allowed the dye to soak in, using an artist's brush. It dried within a couple of minutes and responded well to buffing with a dry cloth. Overspill came off easily with naptha (lighter fuel). The guitar only needed three coats to acquire an authentic ebony finish. My luthier (guitar technician) was very impressed and has bought a tin. It will probably last him several years! Incidentally, the supplier packed it very well.
