Amazing for the Price point
They say you get what you pay for, but in this case you get more.Overall a fantastic guitar for under $200. It did need a little set up, and changing the strings early on will save some frustration. I added Ernie Ball 10/46 Regular Slinky strings and it made a huge difference.Couple of minor issues I dealt with. The pots were loose and spun easily when adjusting tone and volume. 10 minutes with a screwdriver (to remove the back panel) and a wrench to tighten the nut under the knob and it was good to go. I only opened the back to make sure the wires were not twisted (and they were not) so I closed it back up without touching much.Fret sprout was minimal, could have left that alone, but I cleaned it up in a few minutes. There was some fret buzz, but changing the strings, adjusting the relief 1/4 turn and adjusting the saddles easily took care of that. Intonation was spot on for all but the low E string. Easy enough to deal with. The neck fits to the body with no gaps and the torsion adjustment is easy to reach when needed. The neck needed a little oil and the frets needed to be polished a touch. Frets are a tiny bit high at 3, 7 and 11, but there is no buzz and it is hardly noticeable. I will likely deal with that the next time I polish the frets. This arrived set up as well as some of my other, more expensive guitars (and better than some I have seen).Guitar plays nice and sounds good. Basic pots and pickups, but they sound really good - especially for the price. Matte black finish is beautiful. It picks up oil from your skin, but wipes down easy enough. Reverse headstock looks really cool. This guitar is an excellent starter guitar, and would likely please even a more experienced player. Maybe someday I will upgrade the pots and pickups, but see no reason to rush into that, as it works great as it is.Only thing I re-emphasize - restring it with better, new strings.

Well.. you get what you pay for.
I bought this strictly as a project to take a very cheap guitar and modify it to be better. I’m going to lists the cons and then the pros of my analysis.Cons~-the bridge is not centered which causes the string alignment to be out of whack.-the fret ends are very sharp and uncomfortable.-the tuning machines are very cheap and don’t hold tuning stability that great.Pros~-frets are level and there’s are no dead frets-the pickups sounds surprisingly killer-the scale length is correct-it has a voluteIt does have very low frets. I was very surprised it didn’t have jumbo or atleast medium jumbo frets with how it looks. It looks like a metal shredder but it plays more like a vintage fender.I could have overlook everything except for the sharp fret ends. That’s completely takes it to “keepable” to “returnable” anyone who’s starting out will not want to play this because it will be uncomfortable. You can take it to your local guitar center and have the tech give it a fret end dressing but that will cost more than what you paid for the guitar so beware and if you still risk it I hope yours aren’t sharp. It’s definitely possible I just got an overlooked quality controlled one but I wanted to make sure I posted an honest review dealing with my personal experience.I will be keeping it as I am a guitar tech and like I said I got this purposely for a cheap project.

I wanted this guitar to work out but...
This guitar appealed to me and I wanted something that looked metal but didn't break the bank. It did break my heart though. It is super light weight and has an awesome matte finish to it. But the problems outweigh the cool look and feel of it. The craftsmanship is a solid C- due to the tone knob spinning freely from the base to where the wires could tangle and snap. It was not worth my time to try to fix it. I found that also the volume knob would do the same if you put enough force past maxing out. The string tensioner knobs were super loose so I had to tighten them down. Lastly there was horrible fret buzz on the 5th fret with the 1st and 2 string. I did everything short of taking it to a tech to fix its and nothing worked. Spend your money on something a little better.

Good looks and good for a modding/project platform
The reason for the rating is the frets needed work.I could feel the fret sprout and yes they were also gritty/scratchy.However, it looks good and the body/neck finish was clean.

Poor quality control. Needed modifications.
Out of the box the volume and tone knobs were loose. Quick enough fix if you know your way around guitars. The biggest issue didn’t become apparent until I went to change the strings. 4 of the 6 strings were completely stuck, I was not able to take them out. The bridge was almost completely covering the holes where the strings come through the back of the guitar clamping them in place. I was only able to remove them by unscrewing the bridge and taking it off completely. That is when I noticed the holes were crooked and so was the bridge. I needed to drill new holes into the guitar so I could screw the bridge on straight and not cover the holes so I could put the new strings.Only after completing this time-consuming fix was I able to change the strings. Even for a guitar of this price this is unacceptable. Perhaps I got unlucky with mine, but I can only write the review based on the one I received.

So far so good!
Love the ergonomics and the pickups of this (black) dinky, awesome for heavy music! Might be the best value on Amazon at the moment. Just one consideration - if you hook your guitars on a wall hook, this head might not be appropriate (not a problem for me).
