A really nice sounding, versatile and robust pedal at a bargain price.
Out of the box this looks well built and has some weight to it despite the size. I plugged in, set the knobs to 0 to see whether there was any noise. None and none on bypass, although I did notice a very light uplift in volume when the pedal was on. Then I set everything to 12 o’clock and tried out each effect in turn. I immediately realised that the rate was going to be the key control. For example, I needed to turn it down to 9 o’clock on the choruses, but up to 12 again for flanger and phaser, for example. This, of course, is purely my taste, but it seemed very easy to overdo the rate whereas level and depth seemed to be a happy medium at 12 o’clock on all the effects. This was important because in a live situation I don’t want to have to spend too much time fine adjusting and the knobs are pretty small. As to the tones, chorus 2 was the more sophisticated of the two. Flanger and phaser were pretty good, as was the tremolo. I was less convinced about the vibrato, though it sounded as I expected. It’s just not an effect I’m likely to use. I liked the rotary, which although not quite reproducing a genuine rotary sound, was a really nice effect in its own right and one that I’d incorporate. In live settings I only use modulation intermittently, so it was great to have a small pedal that I’ll be able to add to my crowded board once I’ve found my velcro! There’s no power supply and no battery compartment, but that it not a problem for me. Overall this is a really nice sounding, versatile pedal, not for studio or the O2, but for my average pub/club gig, it’s a great addition.

Solid Effects at a good price
The media could not be loaded. I was looking for a rotary style effect for my guitar, based on the old Leslie spinning speaker. There are a few out there, but they are all very expensive.I then remembered seeing that the Donner Mod Square had it as one of the 7 effects that were on board - and as I love Donner effects, I bought it just for that effect!Of course, the Mod Square does much more than just rotary, it has chorus, flanger, phaser, tremelo and vibe, all based on popular versions of those effects. Each one has a unique character and sounds good. The controls are simple, level, depth and rate. Level sets how loud the effect is in the mix, depth how much effect there is and rate, how fast the effects modulation is. For example, on the phaser, setting rate to maximum will create a fast almost chorus like effect.I am using it mostly for rotary, I have to say that is a fantastic sounding effect. In the demo it is set to maximum depth, slowest speed and about half on the level. If you are looking for modulation effects, but don't forsee stacking them, this is a great place to start.

Good introduction to a range of modulation effects
I've had this a couple of years. For the money, it's great. I've since bought analog chorus and tremolo pedals but still use this for occasional flange and phaser effects.

Good value multi-mod effect.
Lots of effect flexibility but bit fiddly to use due to very small knobs. You can only use one effect at a time, but the effects are pretty good with all having useable settings. Great value for money for what you get.

Phase your way through 7 modulations without breaking the bank
Good little pedal for the price. More versatility than the Donner Chorus (also not a bad pedal for the money). I got it specifically for phaser and flanger. It does what I want it to and it hasn’t cost a fortune

Bargain multi-effect pedal
An absolute steal at the price with plenty of effects to play about with. The chorus is particularly good.

Great little ‘Swiss army’ modulation pedal
Excellent value multi effects pedal covering all basic modulation sounds. Vibrato is a little disappointing as the modulation is too deep and rate too slow but the tremolo works well as do all other effects. At this price you can’t really complain. Had Donner pedals before and they have survived well.

Not impressed
I've purchased 7 Donner pedals now and this is the least impressive and not worth the money. Its a noisy buzzy pedal. I swapped it over with another branded pedal and I had no added noise so clearly this pedal causing inteference. Despite the noise I did try it through my clean channel and both chorus 1 and 2 were OK but nothing to write home about. Phaser effect is OK, can't really go wrong with tremelo or rotary effects. The flanger was good. All the effects are muddy and unusable even with a light crunch, the response of the effects is poor but this could be due to the constant buzz. When I go to gain stage 2 in my setup which I've never had a problem with before the pedal made my tone unbearable. After spending well over £100 to complete my rig I was left disappointed with this one and felt like I had wasted my money. Sorry Donner but this pedal is a letdown
