As offered on the back cover, stress is on problem solving and not on pure mathematics. However, this does not mean that the treatment is informal. The language is precise and the concepts are clearly defined. The exercises are useful and range from very easy to somewhat challenging. Preliminaries have been kept to a minimum and people who have taken their Calculus and Linear Algebra should have no problems working their way through this book.

I would like to give this a $ star rating but the book has a technical problem Or I received a poor copy). The subject matter is very technical and it abounds in subscripts and superscripts (exponents, generally) which are almost impossible to read, My reading glasses are fine with the newspaper so should do just as well with the text. However, the text needs a larger font or something that doesn't require a magnifying glass to read. Perhaps I can get a sample for Kindle paper-white and evaluate that possibility since one has control over the font.
