Works well
This product is sturdy and accomplishes it's intended purpose. The clamping bolt is a bit of a strange design but works. I used it on my steep roofand it enabled me to reach areas that were previously "off limits". Good product....

Difficult to install.
It is sturdy and work as intended once it is secured to the ladder. It is not easy to install and secure to the ladder. The wing nut on the roof hook does not work. I had to use duct tape instead.

heavy duty
works great, very stable and make roof access easy

Strong heavy duty construction
Strong construction easy to install. Only thing negative is even with it as tight as possible it slides back and forth on ladder rung. Had to wrap with duct tape to prevent it from sliding side to side.

One does it.
Thought two would be better but cheaped out and used one. Ver-nice. Put some foam pipe insulation at contact points for metal roof and Batman your butt up there. 10 in 12 pitch so the ladder slides down an inch when your body weight registers. Use a safety line if so inclined.

Works, with some modifications.
The hook seems well built and is sturdy and after some modifications worked a little better. The only problems I found were tightening the hooks to the ladder and the weight of the hook assembly. The hook comes with a wing nut trapped in an angle to tighten the hook to the ladder. This was difficult to tighten, a bolted connection would have been easier and safer. I bought 2 hooks and they are staying on the donor ladder, so a more permanent connection would have worked better for my application. These hooks have a hook on one side and a wheel on the other, like most of the other brands. At just over 6 pounds they aren't heavy, but they recommend that you use 2 hooks on the ladder, so 13 pounds at the end of a 10 or 12 foot ladder is a little heavy, especially while trying to manoeuvre it on a roof from the other end. After trying to use the wheels to move the ladder across my roof, I quickly found out that not being able to tighten the hooks to the ladder was a bigger issue when I flipped the ladder over to the hook side and they moved from the ladder rails. With my setup being a permanent setup, I simply used duct tape to hold the hooks to the rails and changed that angle/wing nuggets assembly to a lock washer and nut.

Safety First
Needed to repair some shingles blown off during a recent windstorm. Roof is 8/12 pitch so impossible to stand on and shingles were near but below the peak. I used a pair of these ladder hooks with an aluminum ladder. As others have mentioned, they will shift so I duct taped them to the rails. I felt totally secure working along the side of the steep roof. I wish they were made of aluminum as the pair weighed as much as the ladder. Solid steel - They should last at least 100 years.

If you don't work on roofs a lot, you need this.
I don’t work on roofs much but am pretty comfortable on them. I just finished a job that required me to spend a little time on a steep roof. I ordered this after the first day of working up there. It saved me so much time, and ultimately money. I was much more comfortable and safe up there. I probably won’t use it a lot but when I need it, I’ll be glad I have it. I wish I bought it years ago. It’s lightweight, easy to install, and did exactly what I needed it to. Arrived quick.
