Q: Will this open Gatorade bottles? They are are little larger than a 2-liter coke or water bottle.

I use it to open Powerade 20 oz bottles, where the cap is much larger than a coke cap. It’s a stretch due to the size of my hand, but it works every time. I just came back to order more, so I can have them all over the house.

Q: would this gadget work on large 1 gallon water bottle?

Sorry Josie, no. It was designed for smaller bottle caps like those on water and soda pop. Works like a charm too. I no longer have to ask perfect strangers at ball games if they'd be kind enough yo open my water for me. Quite liberating!

Q: can I use this to remove aluminum seal from a med bottle? Marcaine, lidocaine, that sort of thing

I do. Use the metal tip on the end to poke a hole in the seal & then pull it off. It's not sharp so you can't cut it away but it makes a good starter hole. Sounds silly but this is the best stocking stuffer that "Santa" ever left me in the last 5 years. No more running to the hubby to open bottles because I have zero hand strength or it hurts to do it myself because of fibromyalgia. My mom & mother in law both wanted to steal mine. We ended up buying one for several people.
