RUSTINSInterior & Exterior Wood Dye - Medium Oak 250ml

Just what I wanted. A little bit darker than expected, but will only take one coat so it has to be right. Leaves a sealed surface.

I was building a desk to accomodate a small space due to now working from home. I ended up opting for pine for the legs/frame of the desk but read stories about how pine can blotch when applying stain.My research led me down loads of different routes, from conditioning the wood first, to applying a laquer afterwards, to solvent based or not solvent based. I had even tried other companies technical departments who supposedly didn't know how to apply stain onto pine.I found this brand and the reviews seemed promising and even had photos to back them up. I also phoned Rustins technical department to ensure I was doing the right thing before potentially destroying my frame. Rustins were very helpful and even provided advice should I wish to add further protection but agreed it would be overkill for a space indoors away from UV rays.The product arrived ahead of schedule which was a bonus.I cleaned my wood with white spirit and, once dry, applied the stain with a lint free cloth. The stain went on really smooth and I'm pleased with my first attempt at staining wood.I have attached images of the frame to show what it went from and to. I only needed one coat of the stain.

A good stain from Rustins.

Really easy to apply with a foam brush and lint free cloth. Very satisfying. Make sure you sand wood completely before using.

An excellent product which covers easily and evenly.

Great stuff does what it says on the tin

Easy to use and looks great on bare wood. Only negative is very strong smell - had to make sure all windows were open for ventilation.

Have used this make of dye before. Always works well. Easy to apply and lovely finish
