Fantastic Terraform Resource
Having really dug into this book, it's clear it is a goldmine for anyone looking to get serious with Terraform, especially if you're leaning into Azure. The author has a way of breaking down Terraform's complexities that makes you feel like you're getting information straight from someone who knows their stuff inside out. The examples are super practical, making it easier to apply what you learn directly to your projects. If I had to nitpick, though, while the Azure focus is great for folks like me who use it a lot, the book could do with spreading the love to AWS and GCP a bit more. Don't get me wrong, there's value in there for everyone, but a few more nods to the other big cloud players would make it an all-rounder. Still, it's a solid read that's earned its spot on my shelf.

Another great tool to add to the toolbelt
The Terraform cookbook is another book that is great to have on your toolbelt. It holds excellent examples of code and best practices that every Terraform engineer should be able to utilise in their day-to-day work.

Great book for beginners and experts
I feel that Terraform Cookbook is a great resource for anyone looking to delve into Terraform. With 590 pages this book is comprehensive and covers everything from beginner to advanced use cases. The book starts with the fundamentals of Terraform, setting up a Terraform environment on different Operating Systems, how to craft configuration files, connecting Terraform to external data sources etc, but as it progresses it delves into more advanced topics such as exploring the integration of Terraform into CI/CD pipelines, ignoring manual changes, how to generate self-signed SSL certificates, Terragrunt, and so on. There are also a few chapters dedicated to provision resources in Azure and AWS.One of the features that I really like about Packt books in general is they all seem to be structured the same. Each chapter is into sections and always has subsections called "Getting ready," "how to do it," "how it works," and occasionally, the "there's more" section which makes it really easy to jump to areas of interest. The only thing I think I personally would consider changing is merging "How to do it" and "how it works" as you may follow lots of steps before actually getting a breakdown of why you're doing things. It may make more sense to explain it as you're following the steps. The final thing I would say is that Terraform recently changed their license agreement and caused a bit of a rift in the DevOps community. Because of this, people have branched the Terraform codebase to create OpenTofu which honours the previous, more open license agreement. This doesn't mean much now (September 2023 ) as both are very similar for now however over time this may change… It does question the future of Terraform and something you may want to consider when deciding if this is the book for you.I am still working my way through this book but so far I have been really impressed by the content and the way things are explained. I am using it to learn from Terraform from scratch but I think this book will probably be everything I'd ever need to become proficient so I strongly recommend it if you're starting out!

Good examples and well written
I needed a TF book for Azure. This book's examples are mostly Azure, so it's perfect

Focused on Azure and GitHub
I wish the title included Azure and GitHub to more accurately describe what is in the book. Yes there are crumbs for AWS and GCP but the book is focused on Azure and GitHub. I would have passed.

Poor
Don't bother, there are no lessons here. Just a bunch of how to do things and no real applications. Save your money, I couldn't save mine.
