Did the job
It worked great on the aluminum I had to fix.

Note: Threaded portion NOT larger diameter than shank
I chose this particular tap because the image showed that the tap threads were larger than the body of the tap. They are not. I wanted to be able to "bury" the shank somewhat so that I could tap a little deeper than the threadcutter length. I can't. Otherwise it seems fine.

Not made in USA
The description states that this was made in USA. The Made in USA label was obscured by a Made in China label.

Needed a replacement
Broke my Snap-On tap from my set. When I tried to replace it, I was told they were back ordered indefinite. I found out Irwin makes them for Snap-On until they changed manufactures recently. Works just as good and way cheaper than getting one off the tool truck

Plug tap sent rather than taper tap
I ordered the 8mm 1.25 metric tap. I received an Irwin branded model on a blue and yellow card (retail packaging). One thing to note is that the tap I received is a plug tap, not the typical and most common taper tap. I assumed I would receive a taper tap, since the type was not specified in the description. There are three common types of taps - taper/starting (used for threading through holes or blind holes where the threading doesn't need to continue to the bottom), plug taps, and bottoming taps. The latter two are generally used in combination to thread a blind hole to the bottom; you start with the plug tap, then finish with the bottoming tap. Since I'm cleaning up an existing set of threads, I don't care, but if you're needing to create threads, you may want to choose a taper tap depending on your application.

Works well
Seems to be a good quality tap.....I'm sure it's not the best on the market, but not a cheap Chinese one.
