QLT By MARSHALLTOWN Mortar Hoe, Concrete, Masonry, Short Wood Handle, Forged Carbon Steel, 14246

We use this hoe for hand mixing Quikrete cement bags in a plastic wheelbarrow. This hoe hands down beats a conventional garden hoe for this application and I highly recommend using this short handle mortar hoe. The metal head is thick and does not bend or move while mixing the cement mix. The metal head is also firmly and strongly secured to the wooden handle. The wooden handle is also varnished or protected so the wood will not absorb water and is easily cleaned to a smooth waterproof finish. There are no sharp edges to scrap the plastic wheelbarrow like a regular garden hoe would. This tool was meant to do one thing and the design and construction is certainly very good for its intended purpose.

So much better than a regular hoe for mixing up mud in a wheelbarrow. The rounded corners are a big plus. Like others, I only wish the handle was a little bit longer.

This hoe is well built. I have mixed at least 50 batches of mortar and just finished with 62 80lb bags of premix concrete.It shows little signs of wear and is easy to keep clean. I can mix alot quicker and the shape of the blade is wheelbarrow friendly. If the handle were 4" longer it would be a 5 star.

Great toolliked the curved edges, could scrap out a wheel barrow tray with ease, temper the mortar in the barrow, like it with the mortar pan as well,not sure I would want to mix up a lot of batches with this but I liked it to rework the mud in the barrow and short handle was not falling out on the ground all the time like my full size hoe does,

This was the type of hoe that was criticized back in the 60s when immigrant farm workers would break their backs in the California fields. I have no intentions of breaking anybody's back but my own. It is an excellent product that allows me a certain leverage a longer hoe cannot give me. Thank you Marshalltown for making a first rate product.

Works great, I put a little grip tape on the end of the handle just for help, but it's an awesome hoe.

I was skeptical on the necessity for a dedicated mortar mixing tool, since a normal garden hoe seems to fit the bill. However, after MANY batches of mortar and the constant use, my arms were significantly less exhausted. My helper concurs.If you've got a larger DIY job, this is a great investment.

This tool is designed very well and works great for mixing cement in the wheelbarrow - the shape and the holes in it makes the job a lot easier than a shovel and the handle is a good length.
