Deliver to USA

Originally released in France as Engrenages, the hard-hitting Parisian cop thriller Spiral became a blockbuster sensation across all of Europe and Australia, winning awards and commendations from TV France, the Royal Television Society in the UK, and from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in the US. Fans around the world embraced it's compelling story and naturalistic style, which even spawned a popular video game. Intentionally monochromatic photography, starkly filmed decomposing corpses, autopsies and intense interrogations set the tone for this gritty, realistic cop show. It's a police thriller that reveals society's ever-changing codes of law: A dark series with constant and increasing tension. Season 2 begins with a burnt corpse found in the trunk of a car, a seemingly isolated case of urban violence. Prosecutor Pierre Clement, Police Captain Laure Berthaud and examining magistrate Judge Roban investigate the murder and soon find themselves up against the criminal machine that lies behind it. Out of greed, defense lawyer Joséphine Karlsson makes a pact with the drug lords and mounts their defense. As the case grows in complexity and danger, each new piece of evidence unearths a duplicitous world of.

One Very Engrossing Police/Prosecutor Drama
As other reviewers have pointed out, there are aspects to this police/crime drama taking place in Paris that would never see the light of day in an American-made series. Having lived in Paris, the French dimension heightens my enjoyment of SPIRAL but is certainly not a requirement for someone who really digs this particular genre. The four leading performances are exceptionally strong, ditto for the entire company of actors. The scripts pile on the events with a breathneck pace but if you hang in there, the plots do cohere and make complete sense. Extremely well done. Special note: Gregory Fitoussi who plays the prosecutor took on an entirely different role in the PBS series, "Mr. Selfridge," as the store's display manager, a very watchable actor.

Laure and Sami
This was the sexiest when Sami was introduced to the team and there was instant chemistry between the two. I thought the "cliffhanger" was a little too sudden. This series is very dark but is better than anything on American TV.

Action packed story but a bit heavy on the gory
A bit too graphic re the crime victims mutilations and definitely think the writers could have used a lighter visual touch and still get the message across. The viewers get it. The core story and sub stories were very interesting with a strong cast, fast pace and kept us wondering and guessing ..what's next . Enjoyed the Parisian scenes.

Good series
My sister sent me the DVD of season one, which I loved, so I bought season two. I find the series well acted and the story line interesting. Its a bit bloody and violent, but that is okay. Also all of the characters are either bent or have serious flaws, which makes them interesting. Hopefully the rest of Spiral will become available in US DVD format soon.

Well done... nothing on American T.V. compares...
i think Spiral is a very well constructed show... truly an ensemble piece...not being able to understand French, i need to follow each programusing the subtitles.... that doesn't put me off... i'm still able to follow eachstory line, without any confusion... i have recomended it to friends &family & am looking foward to additional seasons... mike hill... the villages, florida

Better even than the first series
A second excellent series of the French equivalent of "The Wire," in eight complex and fast moving episodes. The established players from the first series are back and on fine form portraying their flawed but fascinating characters. The storylines are even grittier than in series one and once again the location filming is a major asset to the overall sense of authenticity. This is top-notch television and I hope to see a third series soon.

Good
A similar style to Series 1 but not quite so gritty. Introduces and develops a few more good characters. Jumps forward in time from Series 1 with some lack of detail about what happened in intervening period, this make a couple of characters slightly difficult to follow, hence the 4 stars. Doesnt ruin your enjoyment though.

Entertaining
Gritty French police series. Excellent viewing. I watched over two days while poorly. Great for expanding one's knowledge of bad language in French

Gritty theme and characters
Meets all my expectations of a great crime/detective series and I'm working backwards through the series having caught recently Series 5 on BBC TV which was brilliant.. Subtitling works well for me as I can watch with little volume anywhere I want and not impact upon anyone else. Now on to series 3 & 4 and can't wait!
