VW Beetle Petrol & Diesel (Apr 99 - 07) Haynes Repair Manual (Paperback)

This manual refers to left hand drive cars. The wiring diagrams did not represent my vehicle, so not all UK spec models are covered.

The standard of this Haynes manual is some way below what I have come to expect compared to other manuals that I have (5 in total). It can be quite a mission finding even basic info e.g. the sump plug torque rating is not given under the 'servicing' section as expected but given in 'in car engine repair'. Job info can be a little vague if you don't have much experience of working on cars and there is far too much cross referencing between sections. I can't help thinking that the apprentice mechanic was given the job of writing this book.

Easily saved me money and hassleSo far helped me mend the boot release and explained exactly what to do to change the battery which is a surprisingly tricky job.

My dislike is that there is no reference to the dashboard. Ie., the layout of the switches and diels. It only gives an exploded view of the dashboard.
