Perhaps a trace of caffeine may be okay for larger dogs, however my dog is only 7 pounds and it was just enough caffeine to make her very restless and breathe a little heavier. As soon as I stopped giving it to her, the restlessness and heavy breathing immediately stopped. I now give her 5mg of Lutein which seems to be helping her eyes per the vet opthamologist. I highly recommend Lutein which you can also purchase off of Amazon, however the smallest dosage is 10 mg....I end up using a pill cutter and cut them in half....you get twice as much too!"}},{"@type":"Question","name":"What is the size of the gelcaps? But at 16lbs your dog might need two small gelcaps per day to get enough of the ingredients to work effectively. There are also snip caps where you squeeze the liquid dosage onto food. Check dosage with your doctor though. Our 31 lb dog gets two medium/large gelcaps a day even though she is right at the one gelcap/two gelcap weight cut off. This product has prolonged our dog's functional eyesight despite PRA in our experience.
