Wish I would have found this earlier. I originally purchased an expensive thunderbolt expansion/dock but had to find another solution when I moved up to dual monitors -- the thunderbolt docks require at least one Thunderbolt monitor, which are expensive and hard to find these days. The LandingZone dock is very clever in its simplicity providing both HDMI and thunderbolt ports for monitor connectivity; works flawlessly with two dell 24 inch monitors. Chose over the Hendge Dock vertical setup since it provides the flexibility to use the laptop display s a third screen.

Not compatible with MagSafe 1 (only with MagSafe 2). Good overall.
First thing I want to tell the buyers is this dock is not compatible with MagSafe 1 OR its MagSafe 2 adapter. It is compatible only with MagSafe 2 (not with MagSafe 2 adapter for MagSafe 1), which is available only with the latest MacBook Pro.For me the, the main reason why I purchased this dock was to secure my MacBook Pro at work. I use the HDMI for the monitor and the single USB port for keyboard and mouse through a hub. It works beautifully. You will need to purchase a separate laptop lock to secure this dock.Pros1)It works reasonably well. It can secure your MacBook Pro with a lock.Cons:1)Does not work with MagSafe 1 or its adapter to MagSafe 2.2)Only a single DVI, HDMI, and USB port each.3)Not of the highest construction. But it is adequate.

Connectivity Issue
I really wanted to like this product but the USB port started to have connectivity problems (2 months in). I expected more from an expensive product.Connectivity Issue: It will connect, disconnect and then reconnect again every other second. I work as a designer and being able to connect my phone directly to my laptop lets me view prototypes etc.

Nice dock for a simple setup - enhance with USB3 Hub and Stereo to USB Adapter
I got this for my for my work computer once I got rid of my second work computer which was a PC. There are two models for the 13" Retina: One for $99 (this one) and one for $199 ( LandingZone DOCK 13" Secure Docking Station for MacBook Pro with Retina Display Model A1425 and A1502 ) The reason I got this model (other than the price) was actually the fact that it DIDN'T have ports on the back. I frequently need to plug and unplug USB keys and so it would've been a pain to have to root around for it behind my computer. I had already purchased a USB3.0 Hub and so I plugged that in to the dock. The other reason I got this, instead of any side standing model was due to the fact that those can't make use of the HDMI or USB port on the right side of the computer. Since I use 2 monitors and an Ethernet cable (that one through thunderbolt), that type of a dock would not have worked for me. For the audio I just got a stereo to USB adapter from Amazon for $5. The total price of all three (Dock, hub and adapter) still totalled out at less than the cost of the $199 model - and had my set up done so that I didn't have to reach around awkwardly.

Cannot recommend this product.
My expectations were set by my previous experience with laptop docks supplied from the manufacturers. As a result I expected too much from this dock. It does it's job of providing a dedicated space on my desktop, however, docking isn't a smooth activity. Port alignment is a challenge every time. Since the BIOS is unaware of the dock, any storage devices connected externally need to be manually ejected or they will throw an error.09/12/17 UPDATEFor a couple months all ports integrated into the docking station have stopped working. No HDMI, No USB, No Thunderbolt. In summary, this docking station is nothing more than a placeholder for my Macbook Pro on my desk. I NO LONGER RECOMMEND THIS DOCKING STATION.

Ok, Ok, Here is the review.
Ok, after being asked OVER and OVER again for a review. (I guess they care for your opinion.) Here is my review. I do like the design. I was a little worried about how the computer would sit on the dock. It seems to fit pretty good. Sloped just right and held firm enough. The way it docked worried me, (wedged in using the USB/HDMI ports) but if this is left on level a level surface; it should be just fine. It seems built well enough. The only flaw I could see so far would be the handle in the back. It is very flimsy, and mounted very flimsy. Should last with care, but they could have used a harder plastic. As they state; even if the handle breaks off, the computer will still be secure. I hope to never have to find this out. The white power on light can be a bit annoying.17 May 2016Ok gizmosforlife, if you ever read any of these. Please stop asking me for reviews on this. The product is good, but I will now never buy one from you again.

The best docking station I have used.
The best docking station I have used. Between work and home i have used a number of docking stations as i travel between several sites. This is the most compact and functional. I do not have to swap out any cables.

Excellent 'Minimal' Dock
So my use case isn't necessarily portability, though I imagine that it could be easily portable (with some protection!).I primarily keep it to organize my cables and not have to keep plugging and unplugging things back in and out since I currently have a set up with two external monitors and a USB hub with a bunch of different charging cables.PROS1. Clean - Definitely helped address some of my cable management issues (also in combination with other cable management methods, i.e. cable sleeves)2. Ease of Use - Docking and undocking is rather easy and have not yet had any complications with it.CONS1. Material Feels Cheap - It doesn't feel sturdy, but seems to be constructed with cheap material. Haven't ran into problems yet though.2. Power Cord Comes Out While Undocking - Engineering wise, there might not be an awesome solution to this issue while maintaining size and cleanliness. But every time I undock, the power cable is drawn out of its place due to the magnetic feature of MagSafe power adapters. Little thing, but it's enough to bug me.

Very good products, works flawlessly.
Works as expected, I have it hooked up to two displays, one via straight HDMI and the other one via mini display port to HDMI.Connecting and ejecting my MacBook works like a charm. Removing one start because I think they should've included a couple more USB ports, i.e. a USB hub in it. This model only offers 1 port, which is basically a pass through as it connects to one USB port on the MacBook Pro
