move the lever fully back to apply (it clicks like a retractable ball point pen)
I only received this item today so here is my initial review. From the outset clear attention has been made in the construction of the cajon, all parts are fitted well together with no areas that are not smoothly finished. The item is clearly built to last as well. I guessed this because it was delivered almost wearing its plastic bag inside a standard oversized Amazon box with the usual paper padding to stop it moving around too much, it had clearly had an 'interesting' journey on the way to me as the plastic bag had come undone in transport with the unit half undressed when the box was opened however the item has suffered zero defects from dispatch to delivery. No instructions were provided but it is simple enough to work it out, I did check the Sela web site where I learned the correct method to switch the snare correctly, move the lever fully back to apply (it clicks like a retractable ball point pen) , move it fully back again to disable it.The rounded corners also make it on of the more comfortable of cajons to sit on.Sound and tone are superb with many different sounds available, using the cajon corners gives a great snap like sound that I've not noticed with other models, a more side drum sound towards the top (with snare if you have it set to snare). and a lovely rich bass with some sustain used towards the centre.I could have pushed for 4 star review rating given its slight undressing in transport (from Germany where it's made I think) and lack of paperwork but the shear craftsmanship, design and wonderful sound are so worth it. Anything less than 5 stars would be a disservice. After only a few hours of ownership, I love it! I doubt I'd need to purchase another one the same as it looks and feels like it will out last me.... unless I wanted another of course in a different model and finish.I will add to this review over time as the item gets more use.

Brilliant - best at this price point and doubles as other percussion instruments
A full size Peruvian cajónHas removable snare which is a 5 second job to remove or refitSounds wonderful - and is one of the better built and sounding plywood cajóns.Check out the reviews on YouTubeI’d buy this instead of the ‘Pro’ version - as it’s the same unit - bar the snare on/off knob which the pro version has.The Latin Percussion solid wood cajón sounds better but that’s over £100 more!Other more expensive solid wood cajons have boomier deeper bass - but as an overall package I’d avoid cheaper or other alternatives at this price point as this is brilliant. You can play along to any type of music - not only Criolla - this also doubles as a Dhol or Tabla for Indian Asian music - takes the place of bongos or Congo’s as the sound is so versatile and depending on where you hit it - a nice slap snare sound higher - lower you go the bass gets deeper and louder - and with the snare on/off position and using other techniques you’ll get even more sound and with all of that comes joy

Great design. Easy to (de)activate snare. Great tunable sound.
Fantastic Cajon. I'd seen someone playing one through St Mellitus (a CofE seminary for training priests, offers degrees up to Masters through connection with Durham University theology km department). For various reasons (mostly providing snare-drum backing to choral pieces). I bought one and had a go. Fantastic!

Great quality - easy to assemble if you closely follow the instructions.
I’m a carpenter and found this easy to assemble. I can’t comment on how easy it might be for a complete novice. I think it more depends on an ability to follow instructions, which in this case are clear and well presented. This is my first cajón so I don’t really know whether the sound is of a high quality but it seems good to me.

It's effectively a drum, one you can sit on.
I weigh nearly 100kgs and can sit on this without fear of collapse. It has a good sound and you can switch the snare in an out with a lever on the left, It has a good tone and is well-finished. Sound is a personal thing but if you just can't decide then buy this one and you won't be disappointed.

Great Cajon!
I really love this Cajon. Even though I only use it for my own pleasure at home I can see how it would be so good on a professional level. The only down side is the fact that after playing for a while the snare seems to go off a bit and you must turn off and on with the lever to get the snare back to working at its best.

Terrific Cajon.
Brilliant Cajon for an amazing price. It's constructed beautifully and has a great sonic palette with well rounded bass and crisp, woody snare, the clap corners give a reasonable cross-stick sound, too. If I had to nit-pick I'd say it could have a little more snare sizzle as the snare sound is on the dry side but that could be solved with another snare unit. Delivered from Germany within five days for free as well.

and the replacement sounds brilliant, think it must be the best Cajon I've ...
Even though the first one to arrive, witch was badly damaged, they replaced it by the very next day, and the replacement sounds brilliant, think it must be the best Cajon I've owned.
