Decent
Works as it should but four stars is because it doesn’t come with a little case like most others.

Great reader
I like having something like this to keep in the car. We've been on trips and had a check engine light come on. It's nice to know if you need to get a tow immediately or if the problem can wait until you can make an appointment at the dealership.I plugged the unit in and it didn't turn on. Turns out that we had a blown fuse on the OBD port. The only downside to this unit. It worked just fine on the dealership laptop reader but no portable readers. Makes it more of a problem with the portable readers than this one specifically. The biggest pro's is that it has a LONG cable, at least compared to our other reader. In our outback, the port is way down there and you can actually comfortably sit in the seat and hold the reader. Can't do that with some of the others. It also has a large, backlit color screen. It's really easy to read in all lighting. I didn't have any issues navigating any of the screens on it or using it in general. It's also really light and compact. I was able to fit it into a quart Ziploc bag to store in the trunk of my car.We connected it to the car and it didn't currently have any codes. The dealership confirmed that this is the case (took the car to the dealership to try to figure out what was going on with the port.) Hopefully I won't need it anytime soon, but I'm sure glad to have it on had at all times so that when we are in the middle of nowhere, I can have an idea of what is going on when things aren't going well with my car.

It Works. I found my vehicle problem and it was a surprise.
BOTTOM LINE:1. I recommend this OBD2 Scanner.2. It reads OBD codes from a variety of vehicles.3. Updates available from website, so will be useful for years.USAGE:My vehicle has had a warning light on and keeps telling me to take it to a dealership.LIKES:- It works! I found my problem! Finding it without a scanner would have been nearly impossible to determine.- Well made. Seems sturdy. Cable is thick, connector is strong.- Connects to my computer for various tasks such as updating the firmware.- No batteries!- Describes the OBD2 codes. No time-consuming lookups to hassle with.DISLIKES:- The website was down today for an hour. At first I was concerned that it was simply gone, but after it came back online, I see a lot of content and they have an extensive product list they support with updates. Website has been down intermittently in the following days. Getting updates and help for this scanner will be hit-and-miss.THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW:By using this scanner and knowing the issue before I take my vehicle in, not only can I have a feel for the cost, but I can decide who to take it too. This gives me the opportunity to shop service instead of being obligated, just to find out what was wrong. I couldn't be more pleased to own this OBD2 scanner.UPDATES:None at this time. I will update this review with any changes or important additions should any arise.

So far, so good
This unit is very cool. It doesn’t require power as it is powered by the data port. This means the unit turns off once you unplug it from the car but it also means you don’t have to mess with batteries. The build quality is pretty good. It retains the data and you can print it out from your computer. It has a ruggedized surface and a medium sized backlit screen. It’s a simple black-and-white LCD screen not one of the fancy colored screens do you find on the more expensive models. I’m not sure that actually adds any value to the device. So I’m happy not to pay for a color. It has a comprehensive library of all the standard codes and I/M readiness tests. You can record reset and clear the data. I am not certain because I don’t own of those kinds of cars but I believe this will allow you to reset certain indicators that mechanics charge money for simply flipping a switch. I know Volkswagen used to have one of those. I can’t verify this but I think if the code is part of the OBD2 System it can do that. If it is model specific then it probably will not.It provides all the standard OBD2 codes. Fuel system, powertrain, emissions engine etc. This will work with any car with an OBD2 port. It also keeps a library of the codes in the unit rather than just supply you with a number, you can select the code and the unit will tell you what it means. Some cars have codes specific to their makes and models that are outside of the OBD system. This unit will not read those. It has a USB-C port which I like that allows you to update the code library and print out reports. And most importantly, it comes with a comprehensive and understandable instruction book. The device is not compatible with macOS. It will still work on your car of course but you will have to update it through a Windows computer. This unit is a really good value for people who need to diagnose their cars then they don’t have any model specific needs. I appreciate the fact that the company provides updates via online and you can plug the unit into a computer and print out reports via their management software ( which is functional but looks very Windows 95) and I appreciate the good instruction book and website support.
