Metal Earth Professor Puzzle Dragon Fly

I have done a number of these kits and whilst relatively simple, being only a single sheet of parts, this dragonfly has given the most satisfaction.I think the key to these models is threefold.1. Be really careful to fit parts the right side around. One side carries photo etch detail.2. Use forms to bend parts that require curves. E.g form cylinders around drill bits of correct diameter, form compound curves against a ball bearing or similar.3. Use a good pair of modelling cutters to clip out the pieces, and small pliers to help make the sharp bends where the metal requires folding.I used some metallic modelling paints over black primer.

These kits are great fun to make, the instructions are quite straightforward (make sure to look at the 360° view on the website), and the completed models are very detailed and look really good. You do have to be very careful when constructing them though - they are very fiddly, and I wouldn't recommend them if you don't have a lot of patience. Needle nose pliers and wire cutters come in handy when making these models.The Dragonfly is one of the easier Metal Earth kits - it is made from only one sheet of pieces rather than the usual two, so is much quicker to put together. It's a good kit to start off with if you've not made any before. Even though it's made out of fewer pieces than the others it still manages to look great - the highly detailed wings are a great feature.

BRILLIANT. When it arrived as a small sheet of metal I couldn't see how it would be transformed into the image I'd seen... however, my wonderful husband, who is very good at making things, was able to construct for me the most wonderful dragonfly. From a distance it looks real and when you examine it closely, the detail and work that has gone into producing each piece is breathtaking. I've been told to say that you do need to follow the instructions because some parts are quite delicate. I love it, I must do because this is more than I usually write in a review!

A little fiddly to construct, needed nimble fingers but looked beautiful when finished. I put it on a rock in my miniature rock garden on my patio only it disappeared - I think the magpies took a liking to it and flew off with it. Boohoo!!

Bought as a gift. Some of the parts are very small so I bought some tweezers to go with it. Recipient very happy with it.

Bought as a gift for a 12 year old, very much appreciated. The detail on the model is striking and makes for an interesting piece.
