The Complete Book of Trusts, 3rd Edition

Excellent Detailed Overview of Trusts
The book provides sufficient detail of a number of trusts and does so in a very readable manner. That is, the text is clear and well written. Although the book is an overview of trusts, it does a good job of providing sufficient detail of each trust discussed so as to be useful rather than being just a recognition that certain trusts exist. For instance, it details differences between simple and complex trusts without getting overly technical or legal, but provides enough information so one could make such a determination. The book discusses transferring assets to a trust, Grantor's and Fiduciary's rights and powers, Distributions, Tax Consequences of Trusts, explanations of different types of Trusts, and Trust termination.

A Good Introduction to the topic of TRUST.
Have been waiting on this one. If you are completely new to learning about this topic, it's well worth the cash you spend on it! This book, starts out with a list of the various types of trust, a brief description of what they are and a chapter that it is better described in. It is NOT a how to book. Considering the number of various trust involved, it would be unreasonable to expect the author to go into great detail on each type of trust.. I already have the NOLO book on special needs trust so I have that part of this figured out. This book works as a general hand on in house guideline as to the different types of trust and provisions you can put into a trust. Once you decide what kind you want, you are going to need more information be it another book or an attorney. On the up side, it does go into things like taxes ( about 40 pages on taxes) and other aspects I have not found in any other book that I have read so far. Over all lit is a fairly decent out line and introduction to the topic, but you will need more info on the specific type of trust you want to set up as far as details ( this is where I suggest NOLO) . Other then that, worse case scenario, you will be able to have a more intelligent conversation with your attorney / CPA after you read this book so it is worth the cash I spent as far as that goes. I learned things i did not know before so it was definitely not a waste of cash.

If you even think you need a book to help with complex trust issues, this one will help.
This book had a lot of important information. It also required concentration to get the most out of it. I bought it to help me evaluate what type of trust would be appropriate for me. It did that. If your needs are very simple and revolve around only the decision to do a will or a will and simple living trust, this book is probably overkill. For more complex issues, I recommend reading this book before you talk to an estate planner/lawyer/accountant.

Great Book for Great Tax Planners
I purchase this book for a client. It was perfect. I wanted to educate the client on concepts and terms used in estate planning. This book is great for the small business owner wanting to understand the concepts.

No update since the publication date makes this a little stale.
a good book for the professional interested in expanding their horizons. This is the latest edition. I ASSUME not much has changed with the law since the the pub date,My one (big) criticism is that while putting out a newer version of the book, none of the numbers had changed to reflect the changes to the Estate tax exemptions etc..so I feel this is probably a reprint of the earlier edition which, by the way, I already had but I gave to a friend so no biggey.I wanted to learn trusts and the concepts as described were pretty good. It needs a rewrite to sound more current.

This Book is Twenty Years Old . . .
I wish I'd paid more attention and realized this book was so outdated. The content wasn't as detailed as I'd hoped either.

Misinformation
This book was totally useless. It is for American estates and I was conned in to thinking it was for UK. I asked the question originally for "a book about UK trust funds". When this title came up I assumed it was for the UK.....not USA!!
