Must have for surf fisherman!
A must have for serious East Coast surf fisherman. Knowing the time of slack and max current can make the difference between catching and not catching. Don't confuse this with the online charts you use to find the high/low tides for your area. Often times, there is a considerable difference between the tide and when the current actually starts flowing in the other direction (And the internet can't always help you find this!). This book does a great job of allowing you to calculate current speeds for almost any location. In terms of ease of use, I'd give it about a 7/10. An existing understanding of the relationship between between tide and current is highly recommended. You could call me a novice as this is my first time using this book. Although I was able to decipher the currents for my locations without issue, they definitely could have made the directions a bit clearer for beginners.Overall, an invaluable resource well worth its price.

Don't leave shore without it!
While it is not the most user friendly format, the Eldridge contains all the essential in formation in the form of charts and/or tables for you to plan your navigation according to the tides. The switch for some sections, from graphic to tabular, can get confusing and there may no be other products that are more consistent in their presentation. I'm just used to the good ole' Eldridge. I do not recommend it if you're a beginner however; the confusion can lead to serious mistakes.Fair sailing to all!

Even though you can find tide schedules on line - I am a traditionalist - like having the hard copy

Great resource for boaters in the Northeast
OK, most of the information is available somewhere on websites these days. But for generations this family has been producing this little book that formats it consistently into a handy small book with the tide and current and other navigation information you need in the Northeast. It is very traditional.Amazon had the current edition, which is more than I could say for a certain major marine hardware vendor!

Never disappoints. It is always fun to see what other articles are included in addition to the information about the tides, sunrise/sunsets and moon phases.

Maybe paper is eclipsed by "apps" but I feel good having it in my cabin.
Every year I buy one. Eldridge should offer a subscription service.
