The Only Choral Album You'll Ever Need

Popular Choral Music
This album is one from "The Only" series of CD's issued in the year 2000 by BMG Classicsfor Opera, Piano, Guitar and other genres, each of which comprise a two disc set andfeature previously released and archive recordings on the RCA Victor label.I purchased this Choral album when it was first released, and lent it to a friendwho loved the Allegri Miserere so much, she had to have my copy, then she moved toto Utah and claimed it got lost in the move. This second purchase was for a Used-Good copy as I did not wish to pay full pricefor an album that is fast becoming rare to find and expensive when you can find itnew. There are 33 tracks in total, some very short, but my particular favourites areZadok the Priest: Handel, Anvil Chorus: Verdi, Soldiers Chorus: Gounod andseveral others. The Allegri is a favourite too, and whilst the Choir of Trinity College do itjustice, it can be contrasted with the top quality treble voices of the boy choristersof Kings College, Cambridge. All in all a good album and well worth listening to.

What a brilliant idea!
I've always enjoyed choral music but never really been sure what it was I was listening to, apart from the really well known tunes, some of which, shamefully, I recognised from adverts or films. Many well known ones are included here of course, such as "O Fortuna" from Carmina Burana, the "Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves", the "March of the Toreadors" from Carmen; "Ode to Joy", "Zadok the Priest" and of course chunks of "The Messiah".This double CD with well over 2 hours of music and 33 samples is the perfect way to discover (and put a name to!) other beautiful pieces of music. I was particularly pleased to hear Allegri's "Miserere" which has always sent goose bumps up and down my spine, and the "Humming Chorus" from Madame Butterfly.I think its incredible value for money with some of the tracks being almost ten minutes long. I'm going to use it as a jumping off place to explore further the music of the composers of my favourite tracks.

The product arrived within the specified timeframe and, although purchased second hand, is a great album. I can now sit and relax to the greatest Choral tunes ANYONE will ever need.

If you like choral music, this is a must. It contains so many of the most popular pieces that a lover of will just want to keep playing them, and very reasonably priced.
