The Wide World of Graffiti

Paint Fumes
It is a beautifully produced book. However, don't you hate it when you spend $60 on a book that struts as a serious examination of a subject, but does not have an index, and the bibliography is shorter than the one attached to your 4th grade paper on the beaver?

Like Reading a Documentary
You’ll enjoy this book if you’re into art history, documentaries, or you are looking to learn about the history and development of the street art movement. This book does not purport to be an academic text, an instructional manual, or an encyclopedia on graffiti. It’s not written in APA or MLA, it doesn’t cite its sources, and no, it doesn’t have a bibliography. But I don’t think that’s what this book is for. This honestly feels like a documentary that covers the history, key figures, and development of the street art movement from where it began to how it developed into what it was at the time of the publishing of this book. The author, Alan Ket, was a part of the early stages of this movement, and he has lots of firsthand knowledge, respect, and connections with its most legendary and appreciated key figures. What he offers is context, and the firsthand stories and accounts of those key figures.I checked this book out at a library and read it in 4 or 5 days. I liked it so much that I’m here grabbing it from Amazon to make it a permanent part of my collection. I encourage anyone who’s ever drawn on the walls to read it as well.
