Good for making kimchi
The jar can fit 2 heads of napa cabbage if you pre-brine them, then rinse and press the cabbage. Mix the kimchi paste or NOH mix in to cabbage, shredded carrots and spring onion then pack it tightly into the jar. Put on lid and fill rim with water. To start fermenting process leave it out in dark area or covered with a towel for 3 days before moving to fridge.

Fermenting Made Easy
I now have two of these and love them both.No messy cloths over jar mouths, this makes the process so much simpler and gives confidence that good bacteria stays in while bad bacteria stays out, all the while the pressure has somewhere to escape.Remember to put a little water in the rim and to sop it up before you pour your ferment into the next container.Very nice product!

I Love Fermented Foods……but
I have been making my own sauerkraut, pickles, and Kimchi for many years.I usually use wide mouth mason jars, but I decided to try this instead of having to divide up a whole head of cabbage between a bunch of jars.I did not think this through.Normal weights do not fit through the narrow neck, neither will a (clean) hand.It is a beautiful jar, but you want to prepare your brine and use small weights. Too much work to feed cabbage into it in small bits. I gave it four stars because it’s not the jar’s fault I am lazy. Probably a better fit for liquid ferments.

Well made but impractical - neck is way too small
This is just as described - a fat glass jar with a lid. The lid fits easily into a trough (designed to hold water to create a seal). Quality of the thing is 5-stars, but the design isn't ideal. I've been unable to figure out how to cleanly put water into the lid trough - maybe a water dropper would work but I don't have anything like that. And the neck of the jar is WAY too small for my hand, much less my wrist, to get inside. Very difficult to get the kimchi out of the jar. VERY difficult. Maybe very very long chopsticks could work (I only have the usual dinner-size chopsticks). I don't own a long serving-type spoon that'll fit into the jar. I do have one super-narrow wooden spoon I can get through the neck of the jar, but it won't hold more than a leaf... So... It's a well-made product but super-difficult for me to actually use. Maybe I could get my hand inside to serve food or clean the thing if I were a pre-school kid, but I'm an adult... If anybody wants to try mine, come and get it!
