It's a hot water bottle and it's soft, not sure how much more to say about it. Although the material is very comfortable I think the thickness takes it a little longer to heat up. Does it leak? Not so far, but if you don't tighten these correctly or overfill them, that can always be a problem. Pain relief? Well it's not the bottle that brings that, it's the water so again, not sure what to say about that.
