So its a sort of nice looking decently heavy bell. That's the good point over with.The bell itself is polished but no way perfect.We bough this bell to use it and after fixing it 3 times it was retired.1st issue is the clapper is heavy cast like the bell body but it is held in place by a bit of wire. this wire failed twice.The hande is screwed into the bell casting but the casting is not strong enough to take enthusiastic ringing. This is the current failure and without a UNC nut to hold everything together it sits waiting to be repaired.So, if you need a stage prop, its probably OK. If you are looking for a quality bell you can actually ring, look elsewhere.

I like the very loud sound. I bought the bell for my elderly mother as a hand-held alarm bell if she is unwell, especially at night and unable to call, after more sophisticated panic-button systems proved unreliable or too complicated to use in a state of panic. The bell is the right size for my mother to handle, not too heavy and really loud. Simple and easy alternative to electronic gadgets. I recommend it for this particular if unexpected use.

I purchased this bell because I havbe trouble with my voice so I use it to call my family in for meals etc. I would have given the bell a higher star rating but after a couple of weeks the clapper fell off. I think the thin looped wire is too fragile to hold the heavy clapper. It is a pity because the bell itself is very well made. Surely the manufacturers could come up with a better solution! AWT

I bought this for a charity christmas event.The bell is guite large and heavy but it needs to be .... every loud and can be heard from quite a distance away .... just what is required when Santa is coming to town.

I bought this as a prop for an event that required a school bell for part of a performance. It worked very well and I shall keep it. The bell has a nice ring, it reminds me of the one we had at school to signal the changes in the day, and while I shall not get much use out of it I am pleased to have it.

Great bell, size and sound. Just Dissapointed that it came securely packaged but once opened it looked like the bell had been used with wear and tear. Handle was scuffed and marked, with loose wood at the end. Plus top brass and main bell scuffed and scratched! Some parts looked slightly tarnished/dirty. Poor quality for the price and description.

Sturdy, really good value, brings back memories off the school playground, if your looking a bell that's under £20 this is it
