I really wish Amazon allowed half stars as I'd give these lights a 4.5. I'l start by saying that they feel sturdy, well made, lights. The electrical wire seems fairly thick and the bulbs, which have plastic coverrings, appear to also be of high quality. Getting 2 extra bulbs is a nice touch, too. Why would I then take .5 off? Well, it probably should be .25 but I'm splitting hairs at this point. I purchased these lights to use at a tailgate. I pre-charged them at home (btw, terrific feature) and they worked great. Set them up under our canopy at our fav college team's first game and nothing, they would not work. In addition to pre-charging (about 5 days before the event), we did have the solar panel correctly placed all day but when we tried again a bit later, still nothing. My wife "wiggled" the wire that conects from the solar panel/battery to the lights and they came on... so after playing around for a while with battery panel placement, they worked. Of course, I do not wish to play around every time we go to use these lights so I processed a return... and this is where the seller/company (I assume both) really shined. I received the replacement lights the verry next day. These lights worked exactly as expected. Maybe they deserve a 5 star, but I'm taking off a half star because they didn't work properly initially. Having said that, the seller redeemed themselves quickly and I'm now a happy customer. Just knowing if there's a problem, the seller is very responsive gives great comfort in recommending these lights for whatever purpose. I'll return with any updates as time goes on, these lights are not going to get used heavily, just a few times a year for night games and maybe a bit in the backyard.

We bought 3 sets to put along a back yard fence to light up the yard at night for some extra security and so we can track our dogs when they go out at night. They work great, and they automatically come on each night when dusk hits. The solar charges them for solid use of about 5 hours, and we live in a sunny location, the solar panels get direct sunlight. So they don't last all night. I also have driveway LED solar lights and they do stay on all night until the sun comes up, so this solar kit doesn't seem to keep power as long as others out there. Also, the illumination is a yellow-ish, and not very bright. These are good for accent lighting but it would be difficult to read a newspaper using these as the only light source. Some of the bulbs have gone out, but it's because they haven't been twisted all the way in. Once I twist them tighter, they come on all the time now. Easy enough to install, each set went up in about 20-30 min.

I purchased a set of these in August for the pergola and was skeptical due to prior experience with solar string lights not being very bright or lasting more than an hour or two after dark. These are surprisingly very bright and last most of the night through the late night/morning hours even for being solar powered. I have several tall trees in the backyard surrounding my property and even on not full sun days the lights turn on brightly every evening with no faults so far. Very impressed and out of all the various solar lights around my property these stay on consistently and longer than all the other types.Set up is easy, I used zip ties with the loop holes built into each bulb base to hold the string lights on the pergola slats. I really like that there is a usb charging plug as an option to charge the batteries in the event you don’t have sufficient sun for several days. Usually before an outdoor gathering I plug in the usb to ensure full charge and they are very bright. There are several modes you can choose but we leave ours to stay on with no blinking or motion.After a couple of months having no issues I purchased a second set to put around the playground and even with tree coverage in our playground area the lights turn on every night with no fail. The kids enjoyed playing in the evening and I was happy with the amount of light it produced for the area. We did have several days of consecutive rain and overcast and the lights blinked a little on the 3rd evening but after the first clear day they were back and bright as ever.I would recommend plugging these into the charger before installing to ensure the batteries are at full capacity and then let the sun do the rest. I have zero complaints on these so far and would purchase again if we decide to add more string lights. If you don’t want to plug and turn on your outdoor lights each day these are a great option and with the option to plug in to charge the solar it’s been perfect for our needs.I only wish there were solar landscaping spotlights that had this same reliability.

Updated May 2023:These worked great ... until they didn't. I took them indoors for the winter, but when I put them back out, they never turned back on. I cleaned off the solar array and left them out in plenty of sun for multiple days, but still -- nothing. Very disappointing that I could only use these for one season.Original:Put these up in our pool area, and they've worked great all summer. The solar panels (facing east) get decent light (about 75% of the day before some of my trees to the south and west block it), and the lights have stayed it until the early morning hours when I wake up (around 6ish). I'm hoping they will store well over the winter -- will update if they don't.
