It's an A4 sheet cut in half, then folded in half again. Hope that helps.

Q: Has anyone put these through a standard home printer?

Yes I've used my HP printer......they print well no problems.

Q: Can someone please confirm which side of the card is the outside ? I thought it was the smooth side but fold indicates its the rough side ?

I had the same thought, but eventually opted for the rough side for its character, but would suggest it’s your choice really; the rough side gives you a unique character (depending on your mood and others colours/fabrics) good luck💕
