Don't last long, starts by itself.
Pros:-Warms up a lot & feels great for the cold.-portable-reusableCons:-Didn't stay warm for hours. Definitely never more than 2 hours & that was from the very 1st use.- It will activate by itself. More than one occasion, we have it laying on the counter, flat, no one or anything touching it & it will activate.- one of the metal discs in the pouch somehow got folded over itself so there is extra effort to get it snapped to activate it.I have something similar to this product so I'm familiar w/ this & was looking forward to it.Unfortunately, the first 2 cons are pretty big for when & what we were needing them for. we were hoping these would last for hours while being outside but they didn't. Also, if you give them to kids, there's a high probability of losing them so the disposable 8 hr. ones are probably a better fit for that next time.

short term heat, questionable on how many times reusable
number one - i am obsessed with watching these things activate, they are like a work of art. after they are all done being arty they are immediately warm. it's a great warmth - you can put them as they are on your skin like a heating pad, or tuck them into your shoes or pockets. they provide a little warmth on a cold day or pain relief on an achy day. and the fact that they are reusable is admirable - you are at least doubling the amount of warmers you receive.i have two gotchas though:1) they don't last very long. like about an hour, maybe two. when you do put them in boiling water to reuse them - they really hold that heat for a bit so you can continue to use it after that.2) i am not sure if this is for all of them, but i can't determine how many reheats you can actually get out of one. when i went to reliquid one for a 2nd time to get a third use, it crystallized on it's own. like it went totally liquid again but while it was cooling off it started forming little crystals again without popping it and then eventually was totally crystalized again without ever popping the metal piece. maybe of them are reusable more than once but i think at some point they do give up on being reusable.still though i consider both of these things barely a negative. even if these only reuse once, a pack of 8 uses just became a pack of 16, maybe more. it's really nice feeling heat and perfect if you know you are going to be out for a bit, or need a little targeted heat while you're sitting on the sofa.

Your sore muscles will thank you!
I've had reusable hand warmers in the past that were this exact size but cost much more. These are really good for when you need heat RIGHT NOW as they get hot FAST (within 10 seconds) and stay hot for up to 30 minutes as long as you keep kneading them. Generally, I use them for near instant relief of sore neck and shoulder muscles for which they work like a dream. They are a great for use with the disposable warmers that take a bit to get going. I open the disposable ones first to get them going, then activate these. Once these have played out, the others are good to go!My suggestion for resetting these after use is do not boil them in a pot on the stove. Even if you use a tea towel to keep them from contacting the bottom, the boiling action of the water itself can cause it to come off the towel and contact the metal bottom with a high possibility of ruining it. What I do is place it in a ceramic bowl or large mug and pour the boiling water onto it. You might have to change out the water once, but it will not ruin the warmer. In conclusion, do I recommend these? Absolutely! I have demonstrated these to coworkers who were so impressed with them, they ordered them as well! They're a quality product and a very fair price.

Very warm and the reusability is really nice, but they don’t last too long.
This is a great idea, 5 stars for that! We go through the chemical hand and feet warmers during the colder months, and it is hard to take throwing them away after one use. They aren’t terribly expensive but that is still a disposable cost along with the environmental cost. This concept of having something very similar to those warmers but that can be “melted” down and reused is superb. We tried several situations with these to get the most out of them. When they first came in, they were cold, but we tried one anyway. It hardened quickly and we didn’t massage it, so it lost its heat in about 20 minutes. Starting cold doesn’t seem to be a good thing. Next, we warmed them up to room temperature and started them up again. This time we got at least 30 minutes of heat out of them. Our last test was to reset them all back to normal, start them up and heavily massage them. We continued to bend them at times and this time they lasted 45 minutes. The reset process is pretty simple, just boil in water for 5-10 minutes and it is really easy to tell when they are back to normal as they are liquid without any crystals.Testing at home is one thing but bringing them out in the real world on a hike is the right test so we brought some with us on our next hike. It was in the 30s (F) so not super cold and our hands stayed warm while exerting ourselves. When we stopped to rest at the halfway point, we took out the warmers and started them up. We massaged them heavily and put them into our gloves. As we walked back, we could squeeze the warmers at times, and this kept them flexible and warm. So, for a couple of hours out where it isn’t terribly cold these work pretty well. For something like skiing, where you would be out for several hours you would need to bring multiple of these if your hands or feet get cold.Great idea and reasonable cost. Now to make them last a couple of hours at a time and I'll never by the other version again.

Key word is warm
These things suck!!! The heat didn’t even last a half hour and I use the weird heat generously because they don’t get hot.. I work in construction and rely on my hands staying relatively warm. The temp today was 30°, I used these for the first time today and was absolutely disappointed
