Accounting Paperback – October 23, 2012

I was forced to buy this book for my MBA studies, and worse than paying the ridiculous price asked for it, I had to endure reading it too. This book is very poorly written, sentences are strangely structured, with multiple repetitions and redundancies making for a very annoying reading. Besides that, the authors seem to hold 'managers' in very low esteem as far as their trustworthiness and their intellectual abilities which is further irritating. To top it all off, they also provide some strange management advice, such as "Authorisation for both the purchase and the issue of stocks [British for inventory] should be confined to a few senior staff. This should avoid problems of duplication and lack of co-ordination" what? the news of a purchasing department, processes and procedures, automated systems, information technology or ERP has not reached you just yet?So, fellow readers, if you can avoid buying this book, you should.

The book arrived earlier than I have expected, and the quality is very good.

IF you are required to purchase this book for a class, like I was, please consider purchasing another book to compliment it. I recommend this one to compliment the purchase of this text book. This book will tell you in less than 300 pages what the text book cannot seem to do in over 800.  Financial Statements: A Step-by-Step Guide to Understanding and Creating Financial Reports

Great book very helpfull inormation contains

I find the book very useful for beginners in accounting like me. I've had experience running my own business and it's not easy to account for costs. This book helped me a lot with regards to that. I'm also using the book as a mandatory textbook for my Financial Management course at Robert Kennedy College.

I have wrongly ordered two books. That wa not my intention. Is ther ayn way to get it back and order the right book ?

Well, I truely agree with the former comment.I was foreced to use it too. I have nerver seen such a bad book: Unlocially, redudancy, worde teachign style, confusing..etc.It reflects the professionality of teachers recommending it.There exist a few better books I bought but they have never been recommended by the program conducters..strange.

An excellent book written and arranged with clarity. The diagrams presented throughout this book are also excellent and appropriate. Covers the basics to a good depth in many areas. I purchased this book as it was required reading for my sons university course, but I have also experienced many years in corporate life dealing with company finances, as such I happily recommend this book. Even if you are not studying accounting I would say this book falls under the description `accounting for non financial managers' the subject matter at hand is that clearly explained.

This was a very good book for learning the basics of business accounting. If your course requires this book, I would suggest purchasing it because it give real world examples and context to the dozens of terms and concepts on each page. For a guy who becomes dyslexic when speaking with corporate accountants, this book helped align my vision and understanding with theirs.

Found it amazing value for money under 3 quid used! It first introduced me to accounting to nvq level 2, in my opinion races towards level 3, then diploma level. Easy to understand with questions and answers. I would recommended reading with Osbourne books level 2, after a few chapters. I read a few pages a day, and got a comprehensive idea of business accounting or financial accounting principles. Cannot recommend this book enough. BUY II!!!

Helped with the university degree!

I received this 827 page text book about 2 weeks ago and the course i am using it for started 3 days ago. The reading schedule we have been set is quite aggressive but thankfully, not so aggressive that I could possibly provide a review yet. What I have read is easy to follow, well organised and systematically lays out accounting fundamentals but Amazon must be nuts to think I could provide a review already. You should really consider the book that is being purchased when scheduling review requests.
