A good listen
I remember seeing the band in a small club on tour to promote this album and I recall it was a great gig. I haven't heard anything from this album for well over 35 years and when I saw the album had been reissued on CD recently I decided to buy a copy. 'I Turned To Stone' brings the memories flooding back and is in two parts - The second half is a great instrumental section with a brilliant bit of guitar work from John Thomas. 'Keeping A Rendezvous' is also a highlight here. However, some of the album hasn't aged so well. 'Apparatus' is musically excellent but lyrically not so great. 'Superstar' is a great rock riff that reminds me of a heavy version Devo's 'Whip It'. Not a bad listen after all these years but the two 'live' versions of tracks that appear elsewhere on the album sound like they are of bootleg quality as though they were sourced from a cheap cassette recording and not a soundboard, do nothing to enhance the listening experience of the album. The production of the rest of the album itself is vibrant and punchy and these tracks just sound inferior in comparison.

Budgie : Nightflight remaster
After the praise for the previous album(Power Supply) Budgie did what they did best... disnt listen, the Metal rating was tuned down a notch and a commercial sheen applied that should have been the template for success, this album is better than most NWOBHM released in 1981.Opening with a career highlight 'I Turned To Stone' is quite stunning and 'Reaper of the Glory' is the sort of track Biff and the Boys made their name on.The rest well tracks such as 'She Used Me Up' and 'Superstar' are excellent foot stompin rock while 'Apparatus' could have been huge had they had a proper title that would have made a decent chorus.good album with excellent booklet, the 2 live bonus tracks are ok nothing more.

Great album from in my opinion the most underrated rock ...
Great album from in my opinion the most underrated rock band ever, this is them at there peak with there 80's line up feat. guitarist John Thomas. It really is an album that deserves its 5 star rating (apart from the 2 extra live tracks which sound awful and are totally pointless)
