February brought the rain with it and so the perfect opportunity for this umbrella to shine.Unfortunately the fabric isn’t thick enough to stop the inner skeleton scaffolding from showing through, which upsets the illusion that the black piping was designed to give, changing it’s form and the main selling point of the umbrella. In that instance the black option which white piping would have worked better.The handle is made from an uninterrupted plastic cast, which is great for wiping down with anti-bacterial sanitiser and a must in a city environment.With such a focus on the tip of the umbrella, the designers spent all of their budget getting that right, forgetting details like the vendor catch to keep all the folds tightly curled around the spine, in my view it should have been a popper fastening, perhaps two.I found it best to allow the umbrella to rest with the hook of the handle facing outward, as the umbrella rolls and so the water would otherwise drip onto my shoe, a small but important detail.Overall, for light wind and rain this umbrella is stylish in a city (London) with famously little bright colours, perhaps complementing the post box and old telephone boxes, which makes a statement, if paired with a neutral palate outfit.I like it.
