What I was looking for
I heard these work better than bio balls for surface area for good bacteria to adhere too. I wont know effeciacy until I clean my filter in a few months. These are what I was looking for. 1 unit filled up 1 basket in my fluval 406.

Smaller than the "for scale" picture of the item in a hand
These do what they are supposed to do but the picture of them is misleading. I've attached a picture of the same number in my hand. Not quite the same as the picture in the description unless that person holding them is 4 years old. I ordered 3 bags hoping for about 1 cubic foot of material. The package contains 100 units which is about 4 cups. For my 1 cubic foot of material, I will need 30 packages, not 3.
