Bombproof Roll and Beyond: Paddling on the Edge

When I received the book, I knew it was not new. There were some highlighted sentences. My thoughts on that are, someone else thought those were important, so I should take them seriously too. The book is everything I thought it would be. It is in great condition. It has also been good reading for someone who is trying to learn how to roll a kayak. Thank you.

Classic book for those wanting to learn to roll reliably. No fluff, just lucid instruction. I learned to roll from this book many years ago, and have yet to find a better guide. In many ways, this book is better than a video, due to its clearly drawn, step-by-step diagrams and easily understood text.Thank you Paul (not Pat).

This is well-written and thorough. The techniques are well-described. The illustrations are quite helpful. When I received the book, I realized the author's name is "Paul" (not Pat) Dutky.

Fabulous book if you want to learn the roll. The diagrams and explanations are top notch.

This book is probably the best book so far. Highly recommend to buy the book to all those white and sea kayakers.

good book. Not as entertaining as Nealy's.

I bought this book for my boyfriend, he has been using it for months and frequently goes out to practice what he has learnt from the book. He has become a skilled padler and almost everthing he has learned has come from this book. Its the best gift I ever bought for him.

I teach rolling lessons on a weekly basis and I purchased this book because I am always trying to find new drills to use with my students. I find the more I watch other people teach and read about rolling the better teacher I become.This book was not helpful to me at all. I am proficient at each of the rolling methods described in the book and half the time I still couldn't make sense of what the author was trying to explain. I found myself having to pause and really think about things before the passage I was reading would click. I could only follow because I have the background knowledge to know what he is trying to get at. I can't imagine being a beginner and trying to teach myself how to roll based on this book.Note that most of the 5 star reviews from this book are several years old. Paddling has changed a lot since '93, the copyright on my book. I would recommend a EJ's rolling and bracing as a much more up to date alternative to this book.
