Very good speakers for the price, good all-round performance
I recently installed a set of these in my car and I'm impressed with their build and sound quality. High frequencies are crisp without being overblown, midtones are clear and well-defined. Bass response is also punchy and more than acceptable for a speaker of this size.I noticed a lot of people complaining about lack of bass. It is very misleading to pin this on the speaker, because it has MUCH more to do with the design of your car door and the quality of your head unit than the design of the speaker itself. In order to get good bass response you need a properly designed sealed cavity behind the speaker in order to propagate and distribute the low frequencies effectively. Car doors are very poor environments for this for the following reasons:1) They are full of gaps and holes where sound can escape, leading to low frequency sound waves colliding with each other from different angles, effectively cancelling them out. Mid and high frequencies are not as affected by this because the wavelengths are shorter.2) They are not acoustically designed. Hifi speakers and sub-woofers sound good because the speaker boxes are tuned specifically to amplify certain frequencies (in the same way that a musical instrument is). Doors are not designed like this so they can never sound great unless they have special speaker boxes built into them. You will generally only find these on expensive, high-end cars.3) They have no acoustic dampening. Hifi speakers are filled with acoustic dampening material which stops them from sounding boomy or rattly. The majority of car doors have no acoustic padding in them, or if they do it is very rudimentary and designed more for reducing road noise than any other purpose. In addition, if you attach the speakers to a cheap head unit, it will not have enough power to give you a good bass response without distorting. Bass takes a lot of power to produce (exponentially more then midrange or treble), so the minute you turn the volume up the head unit has to work very hard to produce clean, crisp bass, and even more if you add additional bass to compensate for bass issues caused by poor door design.TL;DR: If you set these speakers up properly you will get excellent bass, midrange and treble from them, they are strong all-round performers.

Good speakers from a quality manufacturer
Opening the box:Good packing with standard graphics indicating an established brand. The speakers feel sturdy and a nice weight.Fitting:Easy to fit, no issues.Sound:I am using these speakers with a standard head unit in a panel van and overall not bad. The tone is good, not too high, mids are balanced nicely. The bass is a little over weighted and the door panel rattles, I used sound deafening material to help - in a car I imagine the rattle will be a lot less if not none as most cars have a better pre deafening in the door panel, but you might need to adjust your levels.Overall:In respect to the quality of sound over build quality and price, if you after an upgrade to factory speaker for peanuts you really can't go wrong.

Will do the job on a cheap budget without amp! !!
Very quick delivery as usual 5☆ as for the speakers replaced for stock ford focus mk3 at the rear using the same method as many you tube guides they sound 100% better they are slightly tinny on radio stations but through USB or cd you can really hear the difference they fit on top of the stock housing with the hot glue around them these are not competition winners but a good upgrade for clear music.

They do exactly what they supposed to do. For this price they are brilliant - direct replacement of the factory fitted speakers (in my case) - even fittings are the same, so I didn't have to drill any new holes for screws. Positive and Negative are not marked but are of different sizes, so it helps. Definite and very noticeable improvement in sound quality without need to replace a head unit. Suddenly I can hear music in good quality at lower volume without it becoming 'muddy'

Just appalling
Promising brand (bought plenty of Pioneer speakers before), promising price for a 3 way and great frequency response.Absolutely shockingly bad sound quality. I gave these the benefit of the doubt when first fitted and allowed a decent run in time. Makes no difference. Bass distortion sets in early (maybe because shallow depth design), the woofer seal is made out of "god knows what" material. The sound is flat and thin, regardless of powering off a very decent head unit (Pure 260HDi) or from a Rockford Fosgate power amp.I even went back and lined the doors and enclosure area with damping material. Still pathetic.I re-installed my original (19 year old paper cone speakers into the Mazda MX5 MK1) and had excellent bass and clarity. I will however change these at some point but not with Pioneer. There is nothing recommend these speakers whatsoever. Look lower down the Pioneer range and you'd be better off or another brand.Just appalling.
