Great upgrade
Looks great! Works good, other than the android auto stopping randomly and the voice control popping up randomly as well. If it weren't for that, I'd give it 5 stars. Well worth the money

Buy this (if you know how to install stuff) - UPDATED
The media could not be loaded. 12/31/2023 update - issues resolved. Customer service provided a software update which solved all issues. It’s now working flawlessly as it should.12/2/2023 update - issues, issues and more issues. The iDrive controller goes unresponsive 70% of the time, not just for the device itself but also for the car’s iDrive system. To work around this, I have to disconnect Apple CarPlay on the phone and restart the car. Annoying. Customer support is not very responsive, and it takes days from one email to another. I’ll update this review if I am able to resolve this issue.——-My original review:It took me about 3 hours to install it. Half of the installation time was wasted on finding out how to do it. The kit has all the wires you may need for the installation, and you will need some torx (star) keys to open the dashboard. I don't know the product's quality and how long it will continue running, but I love the overall experience and would buy it again.Pros:1. It's a significant upgrade to the old BMW F10 CIC system. You almost feel like you're driving a new car.2. Overall good sound.3. A touchscreen would be nice, but the car's iDrive controller does the job just fine and is easy to navigate.4. The phone and volume controls on your wheel still work.5. The car's built-in microphone still works after you connect it to the unit.6. Switching gears to reverse automatically brings the OEM camera and parking sensors.Cons:1. It takes a while to figure out how to install. You can find some YouTube videos that may help you, but don't expect to rely on the manual.2. Switching from this to Radio and back requires another step (switching to aux).3. If you want to use your iPhone with it and to be able to use the little knob on the wheel to go through your last calls on the car's dashboard, you need to stay connected to the car's Bluetooth as well. It's not a big deal as the phone does it automatically, and you don't even have to think about it. The only con here is when you want to use Spotify to play music. For some reason, Spotify decides to play through the BMW Bluetooth instead of this unit's Bluetooth, so you need to instruct it to play over Carplay every time explicitly. Again, it's not a big deal, but it's a bit annoying.

So so quality, doesn't always connect
caused some weird electrical issues with my car but i'm not sure if it was car related or solely this related. Can't give it a 1 star for that reason, but not a 5 star either because sometimes in heat it doesn't work.

Seems to work ok.
Installed in my son’s ‘09 328i so he could use CarPlay when traveling to and from college. Install is straight forward, comes with good instructions. Once you get it showing on the screen it takes some figuring out to get your iPhone to connect wirelessly. Have struggled twice getting it to connect after turning car off.But once using it, seems ok.Tight fit, hard this hide behind the dash. But it can be done.

BMW 6 Series 2013
After 3 hours of installation, the iDrive knob doesn’t connect with the system. I rechecked the wiring and it was connected correctly as per instructions. The unit or the cables are not working.

Solid for the price
Purchased this unit a little over a year ago and installed on my 2013 BMW X3 28i.Functionality wise, it worked decently well. The wireless cohesion to carplay was very impressive, sometimes connecting when you're outside of the car. I would recommend, really made my car much more useable and safePros:- Strong Wireless Connection- Not terribly expensive- Directions pretty clear- No issues 90% of the timeCons:- Microphone installation was incredibly difficult to connect to oem- Screen Sporadically blacks out, but double tapping back button clears that issue- System lags when in cold climate- Sometimes need to re-seek phone to start carplay- For best looking integration, drill into glove box advised

Fantastic Unit for my 2011 BMW X3
Great product. Worked as advertised and instructions were adequate enough for me to perform the install.Keep in mind this setup comes with everything you need. The included wire harness is reaaaaly long so you have to be creative with where you stuff all the extra wiring. It’s challenging to install so I HIGHLY recommend removing the entire center console and center stack. Just remove everything to make room for the giant connectors and wires. The kit harness is for a few different models so they have to accommodate all makes. It’s understandable but frustrating as finding a place to stuff the extra wiring is maddening.I ended up putting the converter box behind the main screen. It’s easy to get to and manage this way. Run the bulk of the wires down below the vents and stuff them behind the OEM head unit. Run the needed wires to the glovebox and down the center console.Took me about 5 hours but it’s done right! Looks fantastic and is easy to manage! Get it.
