Excellent.
This the first Ukulele I have owned and so carried out a little research before I ordered. I went for a baritone for the size.....large fingers....and the fact that it should be tuned as the top four strings on a guitar. I am very pleased with the instrument. It is a beautiful piece and really well made. The tuning knobs are very sturdy and easy to operate. The ukulele was not stringed as I had hoped but actually I am quite pleased as it has made me learn the new fingering for the chords. I was expecting it to take some time before the strings settled in but in fact it was holding its tuning after only a few days. I would recommend this instrument to anyone who wants a lovely, beautifully sounding piece. Thank you for setting me off on my Uke journey.

Great ukelele, but poor standard strings!
I began playing a tenor ukelele a few months ago, but, as a guitarist, found the chord patterns confusing! However, the standard-tuned baritone is exactly the same as the top 4 strings on the guitar, which means I can play standard guitar chords (more or less.)I bought the Brunswick as my tenor is the same make and I have been pleased with it. The baritone gives a much richer, fuller sound, compared to other ukes and adds depth to group practices. The Brunswick does not disappoint. It's easy to play and feels comfortable to handle. For the money, it offers great value and holds its own against more expensive instruments. The only gripe I have is that the two lower strings (D and G) have severe wear on the wire windings, after only three days. Tonight, the D finally gave up! So, I have ordered a set of D'Addario strings. I have always used them on my guitars and they are superb. So....here's hoping! I've only given the Brunswick 4 stars, but, if came with better strings, it would have achieved 5!

Beware - Not As Advertised
The Uke came well packaged but had slight damage (chip) to the front face which should have been spotted before dispatch. It was not serious enough to warrant a return. What was more annoying was that this Baritone Ukelele was clearly advertised as having the top four strings of a guitar, in other words a low 'D' string. It came with a high 'D' string which was not what I wanted or expected. I emailed the seller Arietta Music, half hoping they might supply the correct string, but I got no response to that aspect of my complaint. The Uke itself is OK. It seems other reviewers got what they ordered from reading their submissions.

You can't go wrong for the price.
I already have a concert (also a Brunswick) and tenor uke (Kala) but really wanted to try a baritone. For the price the tone from this instrument is very mellow and pleasing. I am delighted with it and as it's the first baritone in my uke group adds a lovely new dimension to our music making. I was slightly surprised that it came with a high D string instead of a low D but this is not a deal breaker. I may replace it in the coming weeks but I have to say it's a sweet little instrument for the price.

Beautiful tone
I'd played bass and guitar, been learning soprano uke and wanted to explore the deeper notes of the baritone. The tuning (DGBE) is the same as the top 4 strings of a guitar, so notes and chords are second nature to a guitarist. The uke looks beautiful in dark mahogony. It's about the size of a small child's classical guitar, but with "Folk guitar" tunersI'm told the offset headstock can cause problems fitting into a case, and have seen recommendations to look for a child's classical guitar bag as an alternative. The tone is a lot deeper and fuller than the soprano uke.The strings are nice, but I found that the 2 lower (Wound) strings took a couple of weeks to bed in - until then constant re-tuning was necessary. The windings on both these have fractured at the 2ns and 3rd frets, and re-tuning has shifted the fractures closer to the nut.At present this is a cosmetic issue, I don't know whether it may cause playing problems later on.The other major differences compared to a soprano uke are:The 2 wound strings initially sounded a lot louder than the 2 high strings, they have mellowed a bit with time, I've also modified my technique when playing chords. The baritone has a similar string spacing to a classical guitar, I find this makes fast strumming (Formby style) near impossible.I also can't fret adjacent strings with a single fat finger as I can on guitar or soprano.Considering the baritone as a standalone instrument I'm extremely pleased with the price. It produces a full mellow tone, is lovely for playing melodies, and remains in tune as I work up high on the neck.Time for the strings to bed in is an inconvenience, otherwise a great buy.

Beautiful sound
I wasn't sure about this instrument when I first received it, but I have restrung it to GCEA and feel more comfortable playing familiar chords. Now, after a year, I find that this is the ukulele I play most out of the 5 I currently own. It can be a bit of a stretch to reach some chords, but a bit of practice makes it straightforward soon enough. I like the tone and the way it stays in tune; it can be played quite loudly and the deep, rich baritone sound is pleasing. I find it relatively easy to play and still consider myself a beginner having had no musical training or any familiarity with other instruments. I like the ukulele and I like the baritone sound best; for an instrument that really is not expensive, this is, in my opinion, very good.

brunswick baratone ukulele
I ordered this Uke onle yesterday for a standard delivery of 3 to 5 days, I was really pleased when it arrived within 27 hours, a really good service all round. The uke is a delightful instrument, well made, great action and has a very nice tone and, loud with it, would recommend this instrument to anyone looking to buy a baratone ukulele and, for £65.99, it was good value and well worth every penny.
