so assumed that this aerial should not be any worse than not having one at all
I read the reviews and with them veering between 1 and 5 stars, was a bit concerned at buying. However, I think the reviews mostly are based on signal strength and reception. My solution was to remove the standard aerial and drive around for a day. I found no difference in the radio reception, so assumed that this aerial should not be any worse than not having one at all! I ordered one and it is easily fitted, simply screw on and tighten with the mini spanner supplied. Spanner is perfectly up to the job of making it a bit tighter than hand-tight, something of a small deterrent I suppose. Looks far better than the original, and has Ford logo on it. Quality of item and reception are very good, but I would suggest the no aerial test before purchasing just to see the reception in your area.

Excellent purchase
I don't know why I didn't buy this sooner. I got a new garage a few years ago and my Ford Focus aerial kept catching on the roof so I took my aeriel off and drove around without one. People kept asking me where the aeriel was so I decided to buy this.It fits perfect, no attachments were needed and I simply hand tightened. It looks great with the Ford logo on. Reception is no worse that it was without the aeriel, I still get Radio 2.Very pleased.

Great quality product
Bought this to replace the horrible spindly antenna on my 2013 Focus. The aerial itself is completely metal, and feels very well built. It was easy to fit, as one might expect. It looks significantly better than the stock aerial, and is the best alternative short of a shark fin.

Great replacement for use with roof bars/box
I put roof bars and a roof box on my fiesta so the original longer aerial was in the way, this fits nicely with the bars on and looks the part (i have actually left it on now after removing the bars for winter).I did not notice any dip in reception in my area against the original aerial so i have no qualms.The tightening "key" is good too, makes it simple to tighten to the point that you can't undo it by hand.

Cosmetic item, no difference to DABS
Living in an area with poor DABS, replacing the factory standard aerial was a gamble. I can attest that it made no difference to the selection of channels, or the quality of the reception, so if you're merely interested in the cosmetic value, go right ahead. I docked it a star because a flake of the black coating peeled off when I removed it from the sticky fasteners in the pack. Nothing a flick of touch-up paint couldn't take care of.

Great aerial with less risk of aerial theft
My daughter had her Ford Focus roof aerial stolen and I was attracted by this aerial that had a mechanism for "locking" the aerial in position. Very robust build with a Ford logo. Small spanner supplied that allowed aerial to be screwed tightly into position - making it very difficult to unscrew by hand. Excellent radio reception. Highly recommended for those who have to park their cars in the street.

Great.
This hasn't changed the good performance of my 2013 focus stereo and it looks great. Also it's a third of the length of the original.

Smart and low profile
Looks really smart and low profile - reviews saying signal is not as good as a long one are true, but anyone who knows anything about radio signals and sizing of antennas will know why this is obvious... if the signal is OK with no antenna then the signal will be marginally better.This is easy to fit and the mini spanner is handy.
