Fast WiFi speeds, easy setup, huge device
Update: Couple of months in use and this router has gone completely out of control. WiFi was being dropped every day for all devices and not connecting unless restarted. Support suggested hard reset - after that can not connect any more at all. Disappointing experience, although the network speeds were nice. Replacement now has arrived, so I'll give it another chance.Previously: Really fast WiFi speeds, setup does not work offline however it is easy to setup once you're connected. Convenient to be able to manage your network remotely via mobile app. It is great device, but enormously big too. First impressions very positive, connection stable and fast, however I will have to find out if it is possible to setup my own VPN on this router. Amazing! But probably more tech than you need. (EA9500)
I've been waiting for WiFi ac to stabilise, and be fully supported, before upgrading from WiFi n.However, the old n900 router started getting a bit hot and slow, so I persuaded myself it was time (plus the deal on this EA9500 was very good)For reference I keep an old wrt54gs for b and g legacy devices.I have only set this up, watched an HD movie, and run speed tests on all devices and in many locations.Amazing 5ghz signal; the 5ghz band does not get the same 'penetration' as 2.4ghz and I've got walls and ceilings and floors and furniture and people made mostly of water in my house, this is not ideal for wireless networking. This EA9500 gives great speed, ping, and most importantly consistency in all rooms on all floors. On virgin media 152Mbps I get full speed pretty much everywhere. Internally it's quicker than a wired connection to the home cinema! (but I don't recommend replacing your wires, in fact this has 8 ethernet ports so more wires!).Setup was a simple rename ssid and swap for old router.2.4ghz performance seems roughly equivalent to the previous routerThe only downside (so far) is lack of Port aggregation, so if you need that get something else.I have to say that for the current retail price of the EA9500 you could hardwire a couple of rooms with cat6 and buy a cheaper ac router and not really notice any difference. If you need a new router right now and you don't know what mumimo means, get something cheaper.Edit: a few months later the EA9500 is stable, fast, and has required no maintenance, not even a reboot. I'm really happy with it.

don't buy this !
I've owned Linksys routers before & found them ok, but this is total garbage - it lasted less than 4 hours then packed up, & several reboots didn't get it working again. I could have opted for a replacement, but the router itself was a big disappointment - it had to be managed & configured by WiFi, which requires you to set up a Linksys account ( tricky when you have no internet access !) and its menu is extremely basic - no sign of any decent security options at all, & had to type in mac addresses for DHCP reservations. One to avoid!

Not stable device
I bought this device to upgrade my previous Linksys E4200 at 2018-FEB-01, because performance of EA9500 was published like better and because it has 8 cable Ethernet ports. Device looks nice, but does not look stable. WiFi dropped my connections, trying to reconnect to 5GHz WiFi router sent respond about wrong password, but I am sure password was correct, like it worked before the WiFi dropped it. After several retries WiFi connection was successful. So very strange moment. Time from time I noticed no WiFi connection on my devices. On Linksys router's web configuration portal there was proposal to upgrade my router to latest firmware, upgrade was successful. I do not know, had the upgrade affect on router's performance. But when I have tried to update my WiFi settings router did not respond any more, just all orange LEDs on port blinked together in sync mode. Router did not respond on cable connection as well, no access to router's web interface. It looked like a nice brick. I have tried to reboot router waiting till 2 minutes to power on again, but router did not respond. Restart did not help. Only after several tries it has started. No any logs not any information what was wrong. Black box. I afraid to change any routers settings, because I do not know when it could stop working again. I have read recommendations that is good to schedule router's reboots. My old one E4200 worked without any reboots and was so stable. I am thinking to set back my router E4200 again or I hope to get support for my EA9500 from Linksys. Otherwise 260EUR are spent like for trash. One more thing: When You buing the router Linksys EA9500, You do not know what the hardware version You will get: V1.0, V1.1 or V2.0. I did not know about that. No clear information what the difference is.

The first wasted two days until the elusive support team finally admitted ...
Bought two. The first wasted two days until the elusive support team finally admitted that it was bust. The long hours in conversation with the "help prevention" desk cost me about £2,000.The other did work and performs well.A warning, they have two USB ports, A USB-3 and a USB-2. About 70% of my buying choice depended on that. It didn't work. More time wasted, more billing money lost. The Help prevention desk suddenly introduced into the conversation the concept that it should only be expected to work with drives "approved" by them. Try and find that in the marketing rubbish. But take sandwiches, You will be there for a long time, and not find it.
