Q: I am right on the borderline between small and medium size (ie top of small range) which is best size?

I was in a similar situation and went with small. They are snug but not too tight, and I am glad I went with the tighter fit as medium may not offer as much support.

Q: If I get wrong size can I exchange for another size?

I should think if u contact seller they would tell you how to exchange?

Q: Are these spcific to each leg. I have one small leg and a large leg. Can you use the right sleeve on the left leg?

They're not leg specific. You can use either sleeve to each calf. They come in pairs though, so you would need to order two different size pairs. The vendor might choose to change that in the future of course

Q: Football - looking for calf sleeves to hold shin pads in place. would these do the trick. or would they be too bulky when sprinting.

I use mine to play football, but purely for calf support. My opinion is that they would be too tight and uncomfortable to hold your shin pads in.
