Monster Squad 4k/blu ray
So happy that I got this movie in 4k!!!! The picture and audio quality are amazing! This cult classic will never get old…also included is a great documentary called Wolfmans got Nards which is really awesome!!! I remember seeing this movie for the first time on HBO in 1988 when I was 7! I remember watching it in my basement and absolutely loving it!! Then eventually it came out on VHS, if you could find a copy, and then finally dvd…and NOW 4k!!! This movie will definitely never fade out.

I highly recommend anyone who has a love for anything 80's, or just like fun, It really is worth it!
Having grown up a child of the 80's crazes, I happen to love just about anything 80's...even if for no other reason than to now poke fun at it. Monster Squad is no different. I absolutely LOVED this movie when it came out and watched it over and over again. A few years back I decided to watch it again and, well, I still loved it. Ok, so it was a lot cheesier than I remembered, but it's still great fun.

A fun movie.
I watched this for the first time on HBO. That was around 1988. It is still a fun movie.I would have given it 5 stars, but the picture quality is only slightly better than the two-disc DVD set. Yes, the color is slightly more vibrant in some scenes. OTH, many of the scenes are softer and have a significant amount of film grain. My Sony tv's do a great job upscaling the dvd and cleaning up the picture with Reality Creation set to Auto. In Standard picture mode, the is little to no difference in sound or picture quality. And yes, the 4K UHD version should be the one to watch. I will be honest, I have a few Kino Lorber 4K UHD videos and I feel they are average at best.If you have the two-disc DVD set, keep it. The 1080p BD really isn't worth the upgrade IMHO. The improvement isn't there. At least, not on my Sony OLED or Sony LED tv. Yes, it looks slightly better. It isn't a big enough difference to warrant an additional $22.

Before there was Stranger Things, there was the Monster Squad!
I remember years ago finding this movie at my local supermarket when VHS tapes were all the rage, though I was too young to watch it. Many years later, I watch it and I smile and smile. Goonies and Ghostbusters thrown in the blender for a perfect cult movie. The kids are all likeable (in fact the kids won a Young Artists award for Outstanding Ensemble and well deserved too) Sean bringing the charisma, courage, compassion, and charm needed for a leader, Rudy a likeable biker kid with all the smokes, shades, leather jacket, and aura of cool, Phoebe has that sweet innocence for a little girl, and of course Horace a kid some of us can relate too (RIP Brent Chalem). The monsters are all memorable from Dracula played with deliciously evil delight from Duncan Regeher, The Wolfman is cool looking and vicious played wonderfully by Jon Gries (who would later be in Napoleon Dynamite), the Mummy and the Gillman are great looking too, but the show stealer is Frankenstein played wonderfully by Tom Noonan, with a similar charm to that of Sloth from the Goonies. The makeup effects are quite nice courtesy of Stan Winston (the same guy who did the makeup for the Terminator movies). There's a nice mixture of laughs and scares throughout and many 80's notions, making all this memorable that you'd want to return to this again and again. The only negative for this movie is the content isn't all appropriate for the younger mindset (see parental advisory below), otherwise this is one for a monster fan or for those who grew up in the 80's, a can't miss!Parental Advisory: Since this is a horror comedy there's some light scares though nothing nightmare inducing (such as a brief flash of lightening that causes Dracula's face to change from flesh to skull for a brief nanosecond). The sex/nudity department is limited to some innuendos (played for laughed) including "have you ever been dorked?" and a woman in bra and panties partially obscured by venetian blinds. The Violence, though a little bloody isn't too disturbing ranging from bloody gunshots, staking, impalements, mauling, and head crushing. The bloodiest moment is where the wolfman is blown up, though this doesn't kill him, he's in bloody parts, and then he gets reassembled. The biggest concern is the language, the majority of it is said by the kids themselves, ranging from S***, B****, GD, dork, nard, F****T, and a mention of "homoing out". Age range 14+

EXCELLENT
Looks like a knock off copy but it works well, as long as you do not mind the lack of features, just put it on and let it play to the end-a classic

Great Film
I hadnt seen this since I was a teen but it still holds up. There isnt much in the way of bells and whistles on this version, but the price is good and the quality is about what you would expect for the price. Well worth a revisit.
