Good idea rendered useless by cheap and defective manufacturing
Very cheaply made and of little use for the job intended. The pull-up/push-down design is clever and could be very effective. But there is no power switch so, as a previous reviewer mentioned, you are dependent on an internal switch to turn the lamp off when you close it. But it doesn’t work. Which means that the lamp stays lit, even when pushed closed, until the batteries run out. Or until you unscrew the base and remove one of the batteries, which rather defeats the ease-of-use argument and is hopeless when you are fumbling around in the dark trying to put a battery back in to make it work again. You can see on the photo that the light is shining through even though I’m pressing down the top as hard as I can. It just doesn’t work.Its one saving grace is that, if you can be bothered with the faff of putting in a battery every time you want to use it and taking a battery out to turn it off again, it is very bright.Oh, as for the ‘verified purchaser’ who thought it was great and explained that it takes 4x AA batteries? It takes 3x AA batteries; I wouldn’t trust them.Conclusion - pay a bit more for something a lot better.

Stylish lantern, poor switching mechanism
The lantern automatically illuminates when it is opened up, e.g. there is no manual switch. Even though the lantern was used very rarely, the switch in mine failed meaning that, when the lantern was closed after use, the light remained illuminated. With no way of switching the lantern off, the batteries went flat very quickly. I had no alternative other than to dispose of it. An otherwise stylish little lantern badly let down by a low quality internal switching mechanism.

Great lamps, good value
These lamps are fab! I bought 4. They are really bright, but you can have them fully open or a little open. I had 2 hanging off the tent as lights which worked brilliantly. You can hang them or stand them up.As you can control how much light you have, it was great for my son who needed a little light whilst sleeping.I used the other 2 for our table and nighttime toilet runs.Since used in our garden too.Great lamp, good value.

Super-fast delivery from this seller. I bought this Camping Light to use on a night-time to find my way around my home instead of switching on normal electric lights. I know it might seem somewhat miserly but it saves having to turn on several lights as I go. So, this item feels very sturdy and the brightness easily adjusted. Although I received the light only a few days ago and used it every night since, it has proved a useful and money saving item. I would imagine the light will be an boon when camping fishing or even keeping in the car as part of your emergency kit. I highly recommend this light.

Jobs a good un'
Cool little light for the money. Very simple to operate and for installing batteries.Handle, slide mechanism both very simple, functional and smooth.Not tried it's waterproofing out yet.Is clearly made of cheap materials and feels like it would break very easily.Light to carry. Compact.Brightness isn't bad, though I couldn't consider it good. It's sufficient for my bon critical uses is; the garden, walking dogs in the woods at night, in the event of a power outage.Acceptable delivery.Happy with my purchase. I didn't pay a high price so don't feel upset when I've received something that isn't to a high standard.Job done...

Excellent bright lights
We got a power outage at our home. We plunged in the darkness and force to use candles like the old days... no much light indeed...I bought this gadget, an tried it...WOW!!! it works, it gave us lot of light, it's simple, 6 hours running and keeps going... so, it is gentle with the batteries, illuminating an entire room very well (we were reading books!) and not glaring. What could you possibly expect more... oh, yes... is CHEAP!!!

Very useful in the home
I wouldn't go camping if you paid me, but at home this is very useful, and so easy to operate. I don't like switching lights on for no reason - why light a whole room when you only need a bit of it? I use it in the kitchen in the early morning, in my 'home gym' when putting on or taking off ankle weights, in the garden when putting out the rubbish...for so many things. It's much more useful than a torch, and gives a clear light. I should have got one of these years ago. Really useful.

Great bright value for money light
Fantastic, you can adjust the brightness or glare of the light by the amount you open the sides. The top and bottom pushes together to reveal the light. It’s very bright. I bought mine for camping and the handle came in handy for hanging off the hook in the middle of the tent.
