Awesome idea. - Requires small modification to work well.
ABSOLUTELY AWFUL as it is from the factory, but after some very small modifications I can use it with standard utility knife blades and it works beautifully! (This might work fine for cutting foam using the original blades, but for wood you'll want utility knife blades.)The good:- Cheap. (Mine was £7 shipped)- Never needs sharpening. I don't want to stop working and set up a sharpening kit in the middle of a project. Also no need to buy sharpening equipment.- In theory the thinner blades should cut into materials a little easier than the traditional thick plane blades that require sharpening. The problems:- The only way to adjust the blade is to literally push on the sharp part of the blade on the underside of the device. Moving the top piece does not adjust the blade. So you risk cutting your finger as you adjust it.- The metal under the blue paint is very soft. I can literally shave this metal with my utility knife. That's how soft it is. This makes it extremely easy to modify but it may also break easily. Should be good enough though. It shouldn't break under normal use, just don't drop it on hard flooring.- The included blades flex, a lot. Even if you set them to only slice the thinnest possible amount of wood, and you only go with the grain, they still flex into the wood every 5mm or so, so you get a very wavy cut and it's no fun to work with.- The blades are paper thin. They will get damaged quickly, for example if there's a knot in the wood or if you try to go against the grain.- The box that holds the blades falls apart on the first opening. You will need to fix it with tape or find another box to store the blades. (But they are terrible for this use anyways. I'd keep them for another project.)- The bottom is not exactly flat. Would be easy to fix with sandpaper glued to a flat surface, but seriously how difficult is it to make a flat bottom in a factory.- It would be nice if this tool would allow you to adjust the blade left-right easily.- There is also no way to adjust the tilt of the blade. You could probably DIY a solution but by that time you might as well just create the entire tool from scratch. So from the factory this device is pretty terrible and close to unusable unless you want wavy cuts or you just want to work on soft materials. How I fixed mine: (Will obviously void your warranty)1. Order some utility knife blades if you don't have some already. I got Blue Spot brand on Amazon and they are working very well. Around 9p each in a pack of 100.2. Unscrew the wingnut and remove the top piece. (This entire tool is 3 pieces, top, bottom, and wingnut.)3. Break or cut off the two little nubbins on the bottom piece that hold the razor blades in place. This will allow a utility knife blade to sit there (my utility blades don't have holes in the middle like the razor blades do). It's incredibly easy to do. Just be careful not to break the metal under them. Make sure they are completely removed so the blade sits properly.4. Break or cut off the two corners of a utility blade. (Wear eye protection!) Cutting can be done with a Dremel tool which would be straighter, but it's super easy to break them off with two pliers if you don't care how perfect the break is. Basically you're just shortening the cutting edge of the utility blade so that it fits in this hand plane. You could also use a vice and a hammer.Optional: Add some hot glue to the inner side of the top piece of the planer. This just gives you a rubbery surface that grips the blades well, and also allows you to adjust the blades forward and back by moving the top piece, instead of holding onto the blades from the sharp end. Cut off the excess glue! The front edge of the top piece must touch the blades, otherwise wood shavings will get jammed in there. (Just for clarity, you're not actually gluing the blade into the tool, only creating a flat rubbery surface that touches the blades after the glue has cooled.) Now it still might require you to touch the sharp part of the blade as part of the adjustment process, but much less than before. If you do need to touch it then maybe use thick gloves or a rolled up bit of cardboard to push it.Now it's super enjoyable to use! Cuts edges beautifully with the grain or against it. It even does flat areas pretty well, but for such a small tool it's probably best to go with the grain when working on a flat piece.By the way the Milwaukee utility knife shown in my photo is cheap and is a superb tool. Mine is the compact version which can be found in a few online stores.

Plane Brilliant!!
I purchased this Razor Plane to replace my previous one, which has been mislaid.Using this, I trimmed a ply/balsa sandwich Wing Joiner for my 2m rc powered Glider, to a precision fit.It worked like a dream and saved me hours of procrastination and heavy sanding.Great Product/Tool and I'm so pleased to have this available now, for initial Balsa removal, before sanding.....and 5 spare/readily available, double edged blades!Rating 12/10.Thoroughly Recommended for any modeller that works with Balsa and thin Ply.

Not bad for light work
Not a bad little tool. It's not very adjustable, if at all, so it either works or it doesn't. It's a bit better than my last one because it uses regular razor blades so you won't have trouble getting replacements.

Pretty useless
Not a patch on the Little Giant alternative - this is cheaply made and poorly designed anyway.

Every modeller should have one.
The perfect tool for shaping balsa. Every bit a good as the classic 'David Razor Plane', never loan it out, you'll never see it again...

Not bad
Good, but not the best, i did not like the design. It is also uncomfortable for the hand.
